  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, from bklyn trying to get to midtown mine tells me to through china town wall street etc..and does not tell me to take westside highway or FDR drive that would take hours as you know !!!..any help ? dealer knows nothing ..what dealer do you use ? I will give them a try , MINE ONLY GIVES ROUTE AS THE CROW FLYS .. I don't know how to change it . any help thanks IKEYM

Hyundai is a value brand. In that role the car is programmed to continue saving you money long after the original purchase. Frequent visitors to NYC can save several extra car payments a month by using the few remaining free entries into the city. Tolls are for those with extra cash to spend. In this economy, who couldn't stand to save a few bucks?

I don't know if this will help but with the DIS, you can specify one of either shortest distance, shortest time or minimize freeway. It's done in the alternative route section after entering a destination.

Additionally, if a route has already been entered and you would like to alter it but keep the destination/waypoints, the same routing options (plus temporary detour options) are available.

Just enter the navi options screen (when looking at the Map, press the main circular button in the middle) and select "Reroute/Detour". You will then be given a list of options for altering your current route.

How do I get the Nav/Traffic to work? Is there a symbol or icon to show that it's active? My dealer says it comes with my Genny.

Tom, you have to subscribe to it via XM......it is not free although the dealers tend to espouse.

DJAXX,

My dealer says I do have NavTraffic, but I can't seem to activate it. My question was: if you do have it, how do you know . Is there an icon showing on the screen? If so, what is it look like? Thanks for the help.

XM Radio and XM NavTraffic trial subscriptions come with the Genesis. It was 1 year trial subscriptions for the 2009 models but only 3 months for 2010-later I believe.

With the Nav displaying the normal street view, look in the upper/left corner of the screen where you'll see the north compass indicator (depending on how you have the view configured: "north up" view or the Heading Up view); part of that window is the scale of the map. Just below that scale indicator is the "Traffic" icon: when the nav system actually receives traffic info from XM, for the area you're driving in, you'll literally see the word "Traffic" (in orange-ish letters) just below the map scale. It takes a few minutes after you start the car before you see this; the traffic info isn't always broadcast continually.

The XM NavTraffic info exists mostly for large cities; it's not nationwide. And it relies on information passed to it from the localities... so if your city/state doesn't participate, there's nothing to display.

There is a master ON/OFF setting for NavTraffic: with the map displayed, press & hold the BACK button. (Yes Virginia, there is a menu under that button, just like when viewing a DVD... as non-intuitive as it can possibly be) or press the more intuitive Nav MENU button on the right. Then select Settings with the DIS knob and press in the usual manner. Next, select Map Display and press the DIS knob. One of the options is "Show Traffic Information on Map." Put a check box in it.
