  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2015 tech 5.0. The nav system lets out a tone when I arrive at the home address. Don't know if this was something I somehow set myself, or if it just does it by default, but it's kinda dumb. I know I'm home & don't need a tone to alert me. I've been through the media manual, and cannot find anything about turning this tone on or off. Anybody know how to turn it off ( if it can be turned off )?

Thanks

Ha! I get the ‘home’ chime when I’m still a street away from home. If you have indicated in the nav app a home and/or work location, you’ll get chimes at both. I’m sure there’s a way to disable it... I just haven’t found it annoying enough to do it. 😉

There is, but it has been so long I forget where the setting is.

never had this happen in my G80 so I must never have turned on this feature.

seems a little odd to have the car alert you when you are home, one would think you would already know that.

Maybe it was put in before the DUI laws were tightened up/

/sarcasm yeah a DUI needs to know when he made it home safe without being pulled over or killing someone.

Odd. I've yet to hear that.

My 2016 3.8 AWD Luxury (Canadian Spec) with the standard Navi (Touch Screen only,no Jog Dial)
does it too. I would like to reduce the volume if anyone knows how to do it. I don't think muting is the answer.

On mine (with the jog dial, so it may be different for you), there's a speaker icon on the navigation screen. When selected, you can change the volume. Hopefully, this applies to the system tone as well. Just a guess of course.

There is a setting somewhere in the NAV to turn off the sound of favorite places, or ones you have stored, I just don't recall how to do it as it has been a while. I had several set up and every time I passed a place it would ding or whatever the sound was.

It drove me crazy the first month and I finally found the setting and turned it off. Sorry I don't recall how to do it, but here is definitely a setting.

Good to know it can be done. Just need to peck around and figure it out.

Okay, think I got it figured out. This may not be the same for those with Ultimate trim.
Pressed NAVI button on dash
Pressed icon that says ADDRESSES
Multiple GROUPS came up. I only have addresses in GROUP 1. Pressed GROUP 1
By each address in GROUP 1 is an EDIT button. Press that.
The address will be displayed & A NOTIFICATION button is there. Turn it OFF
There is a SAVE button ( bar ) at the bottom of the screen. Hit that.
This needs to be done for each address one at a time.

Hey tuckerdog1.
It worked !! Hurrah.
After 15 months since I bought it no more DING when I get home.

Thanks:drive:!

I just set my Home and Office today. Tonight while out driving around, I couldn’t figure out what the heck that chime was for. Now that I’ve read this thread, makes sense! Now to shut it off in the morning!
