  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Nav-TV

you are not able to watch video from; your ipod/iphone even when it is in park. At leaset my iphone you can not I would assume this is the same for the ipod

Pwrplay,

No, Our genesis vim interface is only going to activate the factory dvd while in motion..
Nothing for iPod

OK, Just got back from several days of travel and installed the NAV-TV VIM tonight - it works great except when I tested the iPod Audio it sounded as if it was being amplified by just the iPod without passing through the Lexicon Audio Amp (thus no audio out until I cranked it to 35 and then I could barely hear the voices - about 37 DB).... so I will call NAV-TV tomorrow and see if I got a defective unit.... otherwise it is easy to install.

I disconnected and reconnected and tested each connector with the same result...(2 years as an car audio installer during my dysfunctional time before college)...

Anyway looks like a solidly built product - I suspect one of the wires did not get soldered into the connector right, but with out the schematics I have not idea which wire to test in the T connector...

Another note: is it is freaking tight in and around that radio - there is room above the unit for stuff so you have to get creative with the box and wire connector placement.. 90 minutes shot, but I believe it is just a defective wire solder or bad unit....

Gcarper,

I spoke to an engineer and he thinks that maybe that the
harness is bad. I am soooooooo sorry. Please check your email and
call me. We will figure this out right away.

Susanne

Did NAV-TV ever solve this problem, Also if you do get new parts, is it at all possible that you would post a picture of the removed CD changer and the space the box goes into the NAV-TV pictures are not very clear and do not illustrate the problem well enough for me to make a decision on buying a unit?

I will ask Derek and repost

ATTENTION FORUMERS:

We no longer need a Genesis for testing. Please
stop calling and emailing Derek. I do however need

for trying to help us out. Any questions should
be directed ONLY to my email or phone extension.

Dear Suzanne,

I'm very disappointed with what has transpired between myself and Derek of NAV-TV over the past 2 1/2 weeks...let me explain the situation.

I responded to a blog that Derek sent out on Aug 13th and asking for a Genesis with Tech package for development proposes. I talked to him on Saturday Sept 5th and he said that I was the first lucky person to respond. He explained what NAV-TV was all about and they would want to test to my Genesis for new tech development. He didn't want me to be disappointed if they couldn't put in FLIR system but would at least give me the play DVD in drive kit. Needless to say I was thrilled with any type of new tech for the Genesis. and he also offered to pay for a rental for the time in the shop. Since it was the Labor Day weekend we would talk again on Tuesday and set up an appointment.

Talked again to Derek on Tuesday, September 8th and we set up an appointment for the next day and had made arrangements with Enterprise across the street for the rental. Later that afternoon Derek called and told me that we would have to postpone the appointment until the following week as he was suddenly called out of town for a work related situation. I too would be out of the area for family matters and we agreed to contact each other the following week.

The following Tuesday, September 15th I called Derek again once I got back into town and he said that he would set up a new appointment once he talked to his Techs. He or NAV-TV never called me back.

I sent a quick text on Friday and called again this afternoon, and now I read your response on this blog from late this afternoon that was intended for me.

Suzanne this is poor communication and customer service. Yes, I was excited about your company using my Genesis for development purposes. Yes, I know circumstances can change. But NAV-TV left me hanging. I would have been very understanding with just a phone call once the decison was made not to use my car.

Again this situation has left me very disappointed with NAV-TV

Any update on the outcome of this? Just wondering if it was a faulty harness and if everything is working as it should.

Daniel,

I too am upset at the reason you posted. I just spoke to Derek
who has been in Brazil dealing with one of our dealers there for some time.
He explained that it was a mis comunication and we in fact did not need the vehicle for testing after all. I am personally sorry for this and I agree he should have called you and told you. I was told to post the message yesterday and did what I was told to do.

Don't know yet. I am sure he will post when he completes
the swap on the harness. Our engineers are confident that
it was the problem.

Just an opinion from reading through this thread, it looks like GripperDon might be trying to say that NavTV appears to be operating beyond their means. The communication and product issues may be driving that opinion. Right or wrong, things like this just don't look good for any business.

Guys,

This is just a big misunderstanding and I think you are
all blowing it way out of proportion. We are not
a new company and deal with over 4 thousand dealers all
across the U.S. and abroad. This includes large car dealerships
and 12 volt stereo shops. Each of us answer 300+ phone calls
everyday and I think that Derek just made a mistake. He was away
on business and he had already thought he contacted Daniel
to explain we did not need the vehicle. I will have Derek sign up
for this forum so he can explain.

I have been traveling on business since the last time Daniel and I spoke and can not receive or respond to phone calls. I received an email from Sue regarding this matter and am proactively responding. After much research was done regarding development of further product for the Genesis, Nav-Tv has determined that nothing more than the stock peripherals and our video in motion module is either economically feasible as an aftermarket solution or possible. I appreciate all of the responses we received in regards to Sue's request for vehicles. I will be back in Florida and available around the second week of October and will gladly donate a FREE Genesis-Vim to Daniel for his time and this misunderstanding. In the future please feel free to email with any questions at derek@nav-tv.com.
