  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Nav Update 8.5 Available

Is this something you bring your car to the dealer to do the UpDate?? or do you purchase the newer SD card?

New SD card mailed to you.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
And you get less POI's for your $219, too!

$219 for maybe an extra recently built road in your area, yeah right. Lets do a group buy for 1 and mail it to each other. If we find 219 people then it will only cost a dollar each. :welcome:

I thought you could just download the update to your current SD card (if you have an SD card reader on your computer). This is what the salesman told me, anyway.

I just got my car, but I don't seem to remember seeing my home on the map (street was built within the past year). I generally just set the "Home" function in my navigation to a major intersection near my house, so I don't think adding my street is worth the $219.

I can almost guarantee you it is still not on the new one as it seems to take several years for them to update these things. They should at least offer the map for viewing online to see if has any benefit to you before purchasing for such a large amount. I normally own my cars for 3-4 years so there is no way I would have this update done however for someone running 5 years + or so it may be worth while.

If you guys at Hyundai are listening, maybe offer 10 years of free updates for $219 and at least you will get some buyers. I seriously doubt you sell more than a dozen a year at best right now. Actually on a car of this caliber it should be free!

On other cars of this caliber costing more it is also not free. It is licensing costs to other firms and not much way around it, aside from the usual ways around these things.

I don't know abt you guys. But my car already came with this update. MAP VERSION 07.47.65.501.001
I already mentioned that in the previous post, it will be nice if we can share this information so we all can know what is the actual difference.

I hear you, but ...

How come I can buy an off-the-shelf GPS for less than $200, and get map updates "for life"?

Probably volume. The GPS makers know they will sell thousands of units, with a standardized map data format. So, the cost is distributed across volume. The carmakers have a unique data format for each car, so they cannot expect high volume. Therefore, the customization and license costs are fully borne on a small number of updates. And a little more profit.

Except when you are not in cell coverage. It will be a very long time before I travel without an offline nag system. Cell-based is ok for metro and suburban areas. I think Audi may be the answer-- google maps that talks to the Internet when available but can download for offline use.

Good point, but not all phone apps need a cell signal - some just need the gps!

My NAV Maps are already installed with the new version; 07.47.65.501.001, car was born October 16, 2014.
