  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Who's got what NAV software version with what car production date?

and what issues?

Nav software version: 3.00.00.2009.08.17 Genesis 4.6 - w/full tech pkg: Car manuf date: 2/8/2010

My Nav software, in the 500 miles I've driven, has mis-lead me on three occasions after dropping me off the highway, on to city streets. At times the gadget could not route me to the freeway when I was right beside it, literally 50 feet away, and instead drove me ( I had to experiment and see where it was going to take me for the short haul) ... around a residential section in Beverly Hills for 10 minutes - until I took over and headed straight to the highway, once in Del Mar residential for 20 minutes - again until I turned around since it had me heading straight away from my destination and up and over a mountain, and the third time in residential housing near Pachanga Casino, after taking me off the main road which lead straight to the highway.

I would not be so quick to fault the Genny system. I have had and have several gps systems and believe me, none of them are perfect all the time. Faults are mostly due to improper info being given by the mapping people and less so by the unit itself. A perfect example is my home address. I have put this same address in no less than 8 different gps units (Garmin, Navigon, Genny, Iphone Navigon.) and they all bring me to the same place about 1/2 a mile from my house. It was not until I tried finding my house with street view on Google maps that I realized it also showed me to the same location as the gps units sent me to. Obviously the basic location info is wrong. The unit in my Tech Genny has been among the best of them all so far. The speech entry does need a lot of work however but then again I have friends with the sync system and it is really no better. Give it a few more years and they will perfect it. ;)

I'm not saying the electrical unit is at fault, but there sure is something amiss. I suspect the mapping software is inaccurate, and that's the reason I put up the request for software versions with car manuf date, and related issues.

My Navigon had a few similar issues with difficulty routing on occasion. I believe it was the 'design' from the writters who hard calculated their routing instructions, which ended up not always finding the most direct routes on the S. Cal highways.
