  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, had my 09 sedan 4.6 tech in yesterday. They performed the TSB update on the Lexicon 17 system to supposedly correct issues with muting at startup, voice recognition, and the like.

However, when I got the car back, I realized that when I clicked on "Maps" I got a screen that says "Navigation is Starting Up". It freezes on that screen forever. Never initializes.

So, went into the diagnostic menu, and the "software" screen. In there, it reports the following:

HyundaiBH

HDD Version
NA_3.0.01_08313A

Navibox SW

Navi database

Wondering if they accidentally deleted the navigation database.

Could you check in your diagnostic menu and see what yours says? (this is the one where you go to the phone book, add entry, and put in that ##07...etc number.

Thanks!

So, I talked with another dealership, who suggested that I just call Hyundai USA and file a complaint. Reluctantly, I did, and it looks like they will be covering the cost for the dealer (a new one) to install the maps. (Mapnsoft just released v7 in Feb of 2014...so bonus that I get a new version.)

Total cost $205.

So, I've gotta give props to HMA...they did me right on this one. (And, it seems I found a better dealership in Dallas to deal with.)

So, maybe I don't buy that 2007 M45 this weekend afterall...

New dealer confirmed what I was concerned about...hard drive failure. Most likely due to update.

Now what?

Can the hard drives be repaired?

So is the map update this complicated. My owners manual said go to www.blabla, which had no map update link. I am very confused as to what I need to do to just update the maps. I just purchased a new 2013 and I am starting to have an uneasy feeling about the car.......

Lie back on the couch and tell us what is making you uneasy.
