  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I own a 2012 3.8 premium purchased in October. Two days ago the voice recognition would not work said the system was initializing on the screen. I then tried to boot up the navigation system NO JOY. The phone sync failed also. Radio, XM, I pod seem to work fine in the car. I researched in manual, and in this forum until I was sure I had no options. Yesterday I took it to the dealer and after 1 hour they said they were going to replace the stereo in the car. They ordered the part which should be delivered Friday. Turned cold here in GA for the first time (I know 20s may not be cold to some of you) could have been the problem but unsure.
I love my car! Hope this replacement will solve the problem for good.

I've had a few glitches during the 14 months I've owned my car: a couple of spontaneous reboots, two occasions where I had to shut down and restart to get the audio system working again. Hope this works out for you.

Mine has never had a glitch. So cold temp is not the problem. Its been colder than 20 many times since the Genny was purchased.

I have been searching the forums for this problem since I have exactly the same problem in my 2012 Genesis with the Premium package. I purchased mine in November. My problem started a couple weeks ago. I live in eastern Canada, and I made it through the winter with no problem so I doubt if it is temperature related. I have not been back to the dealer yet since it's out of town. It's a very rare car where I live and I suspect that the dealer may be stumped, but perhaps I should give them more credit since I have been treated very well by them so far. I am wondering if disconnecting the battery to reboot the system might fix the issue but I am not comfortable messing with it while still under warranty. I will keep checking back for updates. If I get my issue fixed, I will post an update.

I, also, have a bluetooth problem. My 2012 3.8 loaded Genesis keeps giving "bluetooth connection interrupted". I've had it in twice (at 125 miles round trip each time! I have no confidence in the dealer as only the service manager appears to check it. He has a difficult time connecting my wife's LG Thrill nor my Samsung Galaxy S2. (note 2 separate mainstream phones both of which show no problem with my 2010 Lexus RX). Last visit he FINALLY connected the LG (only) and I've left it that way. But like the cat song, the problem repeatly comes back!

Not all phones are certified as working with the Hyundai. They have a website to check if your phone is certified as compatible.

check here:
http://www.hyundaiusa.com/BlueTooth/

If a phone is not certified, that doesn't mean it won't work, it only means that Hyundai has not tested it and therefore does not guarantee it is compatible.

The problem car makers have is that the bluetooth standard has many versions that are continually being updated. Plus, some manufacturers implement features that have not been signed off as part of the standard or don't follow the standard. Apple is famous for this. If they don't like the way the standard is written, they just do it their way.

It is difficult for the car manufacturers to test each phone and phone manufacturers implementation of bluetooth. So some phones work all the time, some work most of the time, and some don't work at all. It is really hit and miss. Just because a phone may be popular doesn't mean it follows the standard that Hyundai has implemented or that they are not using a feature that came out after the car was built. That is why 2009 cars don't download the phonebook, but 2012's do. The phonebook feature was not signed off on till 2011.
