  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The SD card slot is in the center stack below the navigation screen and is labeled in US models. On the US ultimate it is in the center on the bottom row and looks kind of like a button, but it's actually a cover for the SD slot that flips upward to open. Please resize your picture if at all possible.

The SD card for the NAV should have come from the dealer - mine was not installed when I picked up my car. However, I found the SD card in the plastic pouch with the main manual or the DIS manual (forget which) - so check in case you might already have it there too. Once I installed it, the error message went away and NAV works. Call your dealer and have them get the SD card to you if you don't find it with the manuals.

It is located between the Map/Voice button and the Media button shown in the link below. Simply press on it and see if the card is there. If not, as noted above, check your manuals or in your glove box. It is located inside a small plastic case like any other SD card comes in. They are car specific so you must get the one for your card. Never stick any other SD card in this slot as it will screw up the system. Only Hyundai SD cards.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
All of the above:p

Are they really car specific? So if he was to get a sd card from another Genesis in the same region it will be rejected by the system?
Also SD cards should have a standard, what do you mean by it will screw the system if he inserts another card?

If he gets an SD card from a vehicle with the same audio system, I would think he will be fine, but I am not 100% sure.

The SD cards are coded for the specific car as noted in an earlier thread. My salesman told me only use the SD card that came with the vehicle. When updates are available, this is how they install them.

Thanks Alwaysforward,
didn`t find DIS manual

I am sure there is fine print somewhere that states if you install a non-approved SD your warranty won't cover the cost of repair :D . I will flip through my 2" thick manual tonight to see if there is anything written in there about the SD card. I can't believe they don't have a PDF version of that out yet.

Ok, here is what I found in the DIS Navigation System / Owners Manual.

On page 16 it states:

Usage of SD Cards:
  • The SD Card is formatted to include only Map, Navi application and Navi S/W with a new version.
  • The SD Card cannot be used to save and play Music
  • Do not add, delete, or format files within the SD Card.

On page 95 "About Map Updates":

You can contact your HYUNDAI dealer or Call Hyundai MnSOFT at 888-757-0010.

Information
  • This product requires regular updates for new functions and map updates. Updating may require up to 1 hour depending on the data size.
  • Turning off the power or ejecting the SD card during the update process may result in damage to the system. Make sure to keep the ignition on and wait until updating is complete.

Caution
  • Please use only the SD card that was included with the vehicle purchase.
  • The use of an uncertified SD card may result in damage to the system due to heat related deformation.
  • Product malfunctions caused be the use of an uncertified cards shall not be covered within the product warranty.
  • Repeatedly connecting/disconnecting the SD card in a short period of time may cause damage to the device.

Hope this helps out. I think I will start a new post so every sees this to protect them down the road.
