Second Generation Navigation Locked Up

Yesterday I went out to run some errands and was punching in a destination on the nav which I cancelled while it was "calculating". It froze the nav in calculating mode, on screen buttons were blanked and the DIS controller did nada. Was able to use the radio and everything else on the system but not the locked up, calculating nav.

It even showed me the "calculating" in the HUD which would not go away no matter what I did. Got to a stop light and shut down the engine, no change. Went to Walmart and tried to lock the doors, would not lock as the nav was not shut down and got a no key in the car message on the dash? I left it unlocked as I had no choice and ran my errands for about 20 mins. Came back and started the car, still no change. Drove about 20 miles to my destination and again attempted to lock, no joy. Spent about a 1/2 hour there and when I came out the doors were locked and mirrors folded, everything back to normal. I had already determined I was going to disconnect the battery when I got home but had no need to after it reset itself. Strange, maybe I hit the wrong buttons and cancelled too quickly during my programming which caused it to freeze? Anybody else ever experience this hiccup? Everything is 100% back to normal.

Never seen anything like that and what you describe seems more like a core system than the Nav system. If you need to ever need to reset the Nav/Radio system, there is a small reset button near the CD slot. I don't think that would help here.

Mine did this about 6 months ago. I had set it to navigate to a POI in Branson MO. The system froze, no satellite radio. I pulled over and stopped and restarted the car which did not help. I deadheaded to the POI and was able to stop and lock the car. We were there for about 15-20 minutes and when we came back out the system was fine.

I have had this happen on a few occasions. Use a pen to do the reset. Fixes the problem every time.
