Navigation system updates for 2015 Genesis

Is there a process by which an owner can update the navigation system on the 2015 Genesis? My dealer advised this has to be done by the owner, they do not do it

Depending on the Genesis trim . I think the non-ultimate ones can be upgraded for free using software download.



For the ultimate its a $175 charge for the drive

Because it’s the same data that is being updated. Map and poi data. Do you honestly believe they create different updates for different cars

it’s the same update for all models in the same year be a Hyundai or Genesis, a Sonata or a Santa Fe

No idea why the cost difference.

Should you update? Depends. The POIs will change as the Best Western in Podunk is now a Marriott or the supermarket closed. If you use them a lot and find many errors, perhaps you should update.

If you want to go from Boston to San Diego, chances are, the highways have not moved and you can still get there. I80 is in the same place it was on your last map update. So is I70, I40, etc. If you still get where you need to go, save the money. Only you can evaluate the real need.

It does on the 2018 but I have no ideal if it does on other years.

I am still waiting for the updated to be available for my 2018 G80. The site still indicates “not available, check back mid January”.

The base is not free, it is listed as UNAVAILABLE. This has been discussed. Hyundai has stated the 8” unit programming had a bug and they are working it out so it is delayed and unavailable.
