Nearest dealers are five hours away. Buy new G70 anyway?

I live in very rural western Colorado. The Denver Genesis dealer is a 5 hour mountain drive. We want to upgrade from our trouble-free Hyundai Santa Fe, and highly enjoyed a G70 3.5 test drive in Denver. Our current Santa Fe is serviced at Grand Junction Hyundai dealer, only 1.5 hours away, but no warranty work has been required in 140k miles.

Am I just asking for service warranty trouble in buying a Genesis? Just buy another Hyundai or Kia? We have no other luxury SUV dealers around either.

Well, that really would be a personal choice. You may be able to get oil change and other routine service done at the Hyundia dealership, but warranty work would have to be done at a Genesis dealership. You might start out by talking to the Hyundai dealership about the ability to do routine service. They may say it is no problem, but you should also talk to Genesis about this. In your situation, Genesis may also authorize warranty work at the Hyundai dealership, but I would not count on this since Genesis does require Genesis certified technicians. Thanks Dale. The "local" (1.5 hour drive) Hyundai service center willing to change oil, etc., but not do much else, and certainly no warranty work. I have the same issue when getting warranty work done on my Mercedes Benz chassis motorhome, and the MB is turning problematic.

I am having hard enough time locating desired engine, color, and trim, besides worrying whether the Genesis will also turn problematic!

It will not be as plush, but service will be much easier for you. If you do not mind going to an SUV, check out the Santa Fe Calligraphy. It is a great vehicle and has the same tech the Genesis has. Just not as Lux, but really close.

Thanks Dale. We don't like the new Santa Fe's angular styling, thus leaning to Kia Sportage with same drive train. Wanted a little smaller vehicle than Santa Fe too. Am not familiar with the Calligraphy edition.

The Calligraphy is the loaded trim. The sportage is a good vehicle but a lot less of a vehicle then the Genesis. Like I said, this is a choice you need to make to give you peace of mind. New vehicles are not cheap and should be a worry-free purchase. Good luck to you.

I want the safe lane keeping, blind spot warning, front and rear collision avoidance features. Seeing wide angle side view video on my speedo dial was impressive.

I bought my wife a Hyundia Venue. This is an entry level small SUV that only cost $23, 200. This small SUV came with front collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear camera and pedestrian alert. All this to say that a cheap Hyundia has a lot of standard safety features. I also love the 360-camera view and a HUD along with other safety features on my GV80.

Check out the higher trim levels of any vehicle you look out to try and get the features you want.

Not going to be easy for you to get the oil changes and tire rotations that are included for the first 36k…I’d hate it and take a pass. But you’re used to it living where you live and having to drive 90 minutes one way for Hyundai service, so somehow we all try to live in situations that are tolerable.

Thats a tough one. If you get a car like mine that has never had an issue, then go for it. But if you get a car like some others that has had nothing but problems. Don't.
The problem here is you never know what your going to get.
