  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm in the market for a 2016 Genesis 3.8 Ultimate. I have found two vehicles that I'm considering. The first one is a CPO Ultimate with AWD and 38K miles . The dealer is asking for a little over $27K for it. The second option is a RWD Ultimate with 26K miles, but is not CPO. This dealer is asking slightly over 25K for it. The second dealer is not a Hyundai dealership. Is it better to go with the CPO with more miles or take the non CPO with lower miles and less upfront cost. How important is the CPO in regards to the 2016 Genesis? Thanks in advance to this great site!

If you live in an area with even a little bit of winter weather (snow/ice) I'd 100% got CPO AWD.

CPO ALL THE WAY.

If you get snow, AWD is great. I'd offer 26 in hopes of getting it for 26.5 or so. Depending on condition, maybe even asking. CPO is nice to have in any car today with the complexity of it.

For the non-CPO it offer 22 and walk if it was a penny more.

I'd agree with everyone about the AWD if you're in a northern climate, or if you just generally prefer an AWD vehicle.

However, if not and you are fond of the non-CPO, you can negotiate with the dealer to include certification (~$1000 for their inspection and to certify through Hyundai). And I agree the price is too high - I walked with mine right around $22.5k with 37k mi. and did exactly what i just stated when purchasing my '16 Ultimate two months ago. Besides the 10/10 Powertrain Warranty providing piece of mind, it also opens the door to the HPP CPO Wrap Warranty that will protect it bumper-to-bumper should you choose to add that prior to your 5/60 ending. Prices have been discussed much out here ranging widely from $1900 up to $3k give or take. Just FYI.

Edit/Correction: Sorry, I meant to say negotiate a better price at the non-Hyundai dealership and have your local Hyundai dealer certify for the fee.

Very nice. Thank you all for the sound advice. Based upon what I've read, the CPO is the way forward. I'll see if I can make the dealer bite on the 26.5K. This dealership has really been stubborn on pricing. List price or nothing seems to be their motto.
