Need better all season tires

I need better tires all season tires (that are good in the snow) for a 2012 genesis 4.6 sedan. My current tires are Nexen N7000 (235/50ZR18), and they are terrible in the snow and rain!!

Are you in a position to get snow tires? I've heard anecdotally that snow tires make a huge difference in the wintertime livability with the Genesis.

I'm not sure if you will find anything but dedicated winter tires for your car in the snow. Quite honestly dry or wet they're fine but these things suck for traction in snow, my RWD 3.8 won't get out of it's own way in snow.

I had Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 on my 2009 Genesis 4.6 sedan and now have them on my 2016 Equus. I am happy with their performance in rain and snow.

I replaced the original Hankooks on my 2015 Genesis Ultimate 3.8 RWD with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 tires a year ago. I've been really pleased with their performance so far.

I'll place a 3rd vote for Continental ExtremeContact DWS06. Great tire. They will be about as good as you can do on RWD without going to dedicated snow tires.

Rve, do you mind sharing what part of the country you're in? I have the same tires and I've got a trip coming up in the third week of February that will take me across some potentially snow locales. I'm more than a little nervous.

I'm in Cleveland. West side. We average around 60 inches of snow per year in my location. Last year I drove in the worst snow storm that I've experienced in the 2009 Genesis 4.6. Traction was very good with the Continental DWS 06 tires. Other cars were sliding around so much that I returned home for fear one of them would slide into me. Continental DWS 06 are the benchmark all season tire for snow according to Tire Rack. My experience confirms it. That's why they're already on the Equus.

Anywhere in the far north or near any of the Great Lakes, I'd think a dedicated snow tire the best choice. I've only seen lake effect snow once in my lifetime...and it was enough to put me off taking a job there.

Good thread. I too have a 2012 4.6 and am in need of new tires. I also just picked up a set of rigid collars.

Looking for a decent tire that doesn't break the bank...somewhere in the $130 range that is quiet. I don't drive the car like I stole it and I never drive it in the snow.

Does such a tire exist?

Had them on my Sonata. Great in snow and summer. Will get them on my new car when tires are needed.

no it’s Ann “all weather” tire with the severe winter snowflake ratings and has government rating . The Michigan PD uses them on their crown vics and chargers . Nokian made them for the good ole folks in Canada so they wouldn’t need to purchase a whole new set of winter tires each year because of that law where they need dedicated summer and winters .

Yes, it has a real snow rating but it is a year round tire. It was developed for North America, year round. It was a good ride and quiet in the summer.

No, the WR g3 has a snow rating but is a year round tire. Better performance than the all season tires. It was designed to be a North America tire, year round in any location. Consumer Reports gave it a good review a few years back.

I know about the winter rating.. but a guy here from Minnesota reccommended the Perrelis.... he uses them on his Genesis which is RWD. so I kinda got that little voice in my head.. but the Nokian just seems like a better choice with that snow rating. and the asymmetrical tread
