If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've decided to buy a new Cell Phone. One of the two "musts" is that it has to be Bluetooth capable. (the other must is that it has to be a GSM phone)

OK, talking today with various people, I was told that not all Bluetooth is the same. Some will work with the Genesis and some won't. One women I spoke with, who has a V6 Genesis (no DIS or Navi unit), told me that her husband set up her phone to her car, and it took him all of two minutes, and it works great.

I want to order one from cellhut.com but don't know what to tell them about the bluetooth capability of a phone for the Genesis. Note this is not brand, but "older" bluetooth vs "newer" bluetooth, or something like that. I am both a computer dummy and a bluetooth dummy, so I'm asking those of you who understand this better than me. What do I ask for?

HI There,

Both my Blackberry 8180 and Apple iPhone 3G work well on my Genesis 4.6 with Tech--hope this helps.

At least cellphones from Samsung and LG will be good for Genesis because all those are from Korea. Guess with which one Hyundai guys tested most?

FYI, I and my wife are using one from Samsung and LG with Genesis without any problem.

My iPhone works perfectly, less than 1minute to set up, with perfect iPod integration. I think you'd have to go to Apple or ATT to order though, either in person or online.

Any luck on getting your contacts into the system with bluetooth?

anybody have a blackberry and the non tech unit?

When using the blackberry to dial through the bluetooth it doesnt have a ring... just quiet until the person Im calling picks up. Then there is a second or two delay before the mic picks up. So what happens is the person Im calling says Hello when they answer the phone, and I dont hear that, and when I say Hello, they dont hear it. Then everything works as normal.

If I dial using the bluetooth and my voice (I either verbally instruct the bluetooth system to dial a number or pre programmed number) it does ring and I have no problem. If I dial with my speakerphone first and then transfer over to the bluetooth after the person picks up the phone, I have no problem.

I am on my second blackberry (8930 and 8900), both of which function the same way. My wifes samsung phone doesnt have this problem in my car, and my motorola H710 doesnt have this problem with the cell phone either.

Any thoughts, or similar experiences w/ the non tech genny?

almost any phone manufactured with in the last year or so will work. if you really wanna be sure just look for a bluetooth v2.0... I don't of any that won't work there.

contacts can NOT be uploaded to the system... maybe a system update will allow this in the future, but as of right now... start scrolling the little wheel around...

I have a similar problem. First an update. I needed a Quadband GSM phone and if I purchased through AT&T (or T-Mobil), I would have to sign up for an additional two years, plus the phone would be locked. I decided to purchase an Unlocked Motorola GSM QuadBand phone (L9) with Bluetooth. (Got it figured out, as the instruction book is all in "Russian"). Changed out the SIM Card from my locked V400 to my unlocked L9. Managed to figured out how to do everything. Had Hyundai Dealer set up the Bluetooth. Made a few test calls, and received a few test calls, and everything worked fine. Well now, I must have done something and I can't figure out what I did. Outgoing calls are just fine, but incoming calls DO NOT RING. The radio display shifts to the incoming call, but no ring. Also, even though the display asks if I want to accept the call, it gets accepted even without me doing anything. If I'm not paying attention, I don't notice the screen saying I am in phone mode until someone says, "are you there", or if I notice that the radio has muted.
I could swear that when it was set up at the dealer, the incoming call would ring, but it does not ring now, plus it answers the call without me touching the "accept call" button.

Any ideas?

My Samsung Blackjack II works perfectly. Setup took about three minutes total!

Got it all "fixed". First I went to dealer and salesman saw that when I was phoned, the car bluetooth would not ring, but connect me direct. I might never know I was receiving a call as I got no ring. We pared with the salesmans phone, it worked perfect. Re-pared to my phone, and again, no ring.

Today, I went back to where I purchased the phone. Those guys looked and found just what the problem was I don't fully understand it, however the phone was set to answer automaticlly after a few seconds. He set that feature to off, and now, the car bluetooth rings (as it should) plus I am given the choice to answer or reject the call, just as it should.

Very happy, as I'm leaving on a road trip in a few days, and will use the bluetooth often.

BTW, my Unlocked; Quadband; Motorola L9 (designed for the Russian market) works perfect, and is ready for my next trip to France and Italy. I will purchase a European SIM card for it to keep the phone call costs down.

This may be general knowledge, but I found a Bluetooth user manual for the Hyundai Genesis from the vendor who supplied the unit:
http://www.jciblueconnect.com/pdfs/bc_user_manual.pdf
All trim levels of the US Genesis sedan have the Bluetooth feature.

Yeah... read that... no help. Called jci too and they say its the phone... T mobile says its the bluetooth unit in the car.

Current solution is to dial with the speakerphone then switch over to bt.. PIA, but dont know what else to do.

My Blackberry Curve 8310 seem to work fine. Coincidently, I recently upgraded the Blackberry software using the Blackberry Desktop Manager.
