  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is the opinion of this board in regard to Genesis dealers being a combination of Hyundai/Genesis?

If Genesis truly desires to be a luxury brand then Genesis dealers must be stand-alone dealers. In addition, Genesis needs to develop, and require, a unique architectural design worthy of a luxury brand. frankly, this should be required of all Hyundai brands. A new Hyundai dealership was added in our area that had a more luxurious upscale architectural design worthy of the brand. I don't know if this is the new standard or a dealership design. But it should be a standard. Other brands developed a standard architectural design in the 1990s and required all dealers to update their facilities. Hyundai should do the same.

The dealers in my area started out as a second line utilizing a dealer's used car lot. Most have made a minimal investment to update the dealerships. To be honest, many don't merit being a Hyundai dealership much less a Genesis dealership. Why anyone would want to purchase a luxury car from such a deal is beyond my line of reasoning. Genesis has some great designs but is drastically limiting sales with its current marketing plan. Hyundai has made a number of marketing mistakes with this brand, starting out with it being a model line within the Hyundai brand and not its own brand. They should follow what the Japanese brands did with the introduction of their luxury lines in the 1980s.

Yes, they should do the same but they can't. If you do a search here you will find all the reasons and the franchise laws that are preventing them from doing so. They tried but lawsuits prevented it.

Unlike the Japanese, they took a model of a Hyundai and converted it to a new brand. It is not so simple.

They're coming (already a handful).

Think for smaller markets, Genesis is allowing for the Genesis store to be on the same lot as the Hyundai store.

Here we go again….
