  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After reading reviews of the 2011 gen coupe I figured let’s go. I love the look and package.

I purchased a used 78,000 mile gen coupe 2.0t
11k + fees, tax etc
Maybe I was a fool buying “as is” as the engine 3 days later is shot.

what seemed to happen, timing chain jumped. I could crank it as I was seeing if it was something simple to fix. After few attempts and reading I decided to tow it to my local mechanic.
He said the timing chain jumped and may have messed up the engine. I freak and get it towed back to dealership. They said the engine is seized (cylinder 2 and 4 diagnostic) is shot.
I’m ignorant and fairly novice with car stuff .
So, 1) is there anything I can do with “as is “ contract. Seems unreal they didn’t see something with diagnostic when they got it as they even mentioned check engine light on. Which was gone when I took it home. What avenue should I look at to try and rectify if I even can. Cause they’re saying $6-7k for replacement engine that has double miles on it.
I’m at a loss guys. Decent amount of money and times are tough. I may have screwed up big but please lend me some insight.
Also the engine would crank, now it’s seized … ? Is that normal ? I would assume running car with timing chain would do it but it was just not starting.
Thanks

Bummer. Considering the dealer sold you the car with a failing engine they should offer a solution at a reasonable price. Many dealers offer at least a 7 to 90 day warranty of some sort.
