  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good morning!

I’m ready to pull the trigger on a genesis, but I’m stuck between 2 choices. One is a CPO, but with what I would call the old man spec interior (no offense to anyone who might own one).

Then I found a black one with the ivory interior, which I love, but it’s not CPO. But it does have he ultimate package. I guess I could. Buy a warranty before the factory one runs out, but is that worth it?

Which one would you guys choose?

the white one is a great deal lower miles and cpo. white one will pop more with the panoramic sunroof but i personally prefer black on black. the lighter interiors like beige and ivory will get dirty easy. if you can get the black one cheaper with warranty and thats the one you want get black. i learned not to settle , spending all the money get what you want the color you want and dont rush.

Do you care about CarPlay or Android Auto? The Ultimate cannot use either of those. IMO, the Ultimate is the way to go so you have all the goodies. I'd consider a warranty for it only because the electronics can be expensive to replace. If you do buy a warranty, check to be sure what is covered and the reputation of the company.

i agree ultimate is best , i wouldn't settle for anything less.

Both would be great choices. Mine is an Ultimate 5.0 and was CPO, so I understand the dilemma. What I will say is that, in my opinion, if you get a car with a head's up display, you'll always want the feature. I might be wrong but didn't that only come in the Ultimate model? Really spoiled by it.

I was thinking the same thing, the HUD sounds nice for sure. And I’ve heard the 17 speaker system sounds better. Any idea how much a Hyundai warranty would cost approx?

Wow - the white one is a screaming deal. Almost too low... I like the tan interior. She Who Must Be Obeyed didn't want a white car though.
I'd miss the Ultimate jog screen, even though it doesn't have Car Play. If you've lived with the jog dial, you'll find that it's much handier to switch between functions with it instead of reaching up & stabbing w/ your fingers. The wife's KIA has the same Android H/U and the C/P is kinda fiddly - The 9.2 display looks a lot better too & fills the dash better.

The Black with white interior is kinda unique - I like the Ultimate goodies. Tough call.

You just made it harder hahaha, but yes the white one is a great deal! I feel like the black with the ivory interior is hard to find though.

Sorry Man...

If you can drive both cars w/ the each equipment level locally, that might help. The black would be a deal breaker for me, as the Texas summers here are pretty brutal & they're hard to keep clean.

Well I live in Florida, 100 degrees right now
The white one is about 3 hours away, the black one is about 6 hours.

for my money, the white would be too good a deal to pass up!
You can add the Hyundai CPO wrap to cover almost everything else and still be less than the black.

Also, if you ever add aftermarket parts, the carbon or black finishes will go better with white than a conflicting black color.

As far as the HUD - If you wear polarized sunglasses, you can't see it anyway, just another point to keep in mind.

There should be a couple locally with the same equipment, if not the same colors...

I would keep looking until I found a CPO Ultimate. It is what I did. Took me almost a month to find the right one. If you have the time to keep looking my recommendation would be to do so. I use the Ultimate feature set every time I drive and would miss it a ton.

Montecito Blue Ultimate w/ Ivory interior.

I agree crizz.

I bought a '15 Base in March (hastily) and literally spent 2 months looking for an Ultimate CPO to upgrade. The stars aligned and found my '16 Blue/Ivory at a steal and then spent 2-3 weeks making the deal happen to my liking. Don't rush it, as there will always be another and when the "ONE" comes along you won't have to think about it.

Patience is the only true foundation on which to make one’s dreams come true.

Whether you buy now or keep looking, if you plan on keeping the car for a while I'd definitely get a CPO and get the CPO Wrap warranty through Hyundai.

If I were to buy one that’s not certified, any idea what it would cost to add the bumper to bumper 10/100k?

The cost usually depends on a few things. Model of car, year, mileage. If you decide to get an aftermarket warranty be sure to check with the service department of the dealership that will be doing the majority of the work for you. Ask them about that company and if that company has been good at covering costs. That's what I did before selecting one and the service manager told me which ones are the worst about denying coverage, and which ones are best at approving warranty work. IMO I think CPO is the way to go for peace of mind. If you have to think too hard about it then that's a sign to wait until you are more certain and confident of your purchase. A little patience can really pay off. :)

Agreed, I’ve had an aftermarket warranty on a previous car. They didn’t end up covering 90% of the issues I had. CPO it is then, I will just have to wait until the right one comes along.

Just FYI, most Hyundai dealers have the ability to actually certify the vehicle at a ballpark cost of approx. $1k. Something to keep in mind if you find the right car that is non-CPO but can quickly be made into a CPO. I negotiated to have mine certified before purchasing as part of the deal. It's simply a 173-point inspection that is required and submitted to Hyundai Motor America.

Here's the checklist: https://www.hyundaiusa.com/pdf/HMACPO0601_Inspection Form_180913v3_APPROVED.pdf

Also, the certification gives you the 10/100 Powertrain coverage but is actually not required to get the HPP CPO Wrap Warranty. The Platinum Wrap ranged from ~$2600 to $3100 for mine, zero deductible for 10/100 and 10/120 respectively (2016 with 38k).

That is great knowledge, and something I’m sure can be negotiated into the price. Will start looking at vehicle for sale by Hyundai dealers.
