  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi! I’m a new member to this forum and also a newb to the Genesis line! I just hot my car half a year ago with 58,000 miles on it. So the issue is that I just went to the mall to get Christmas presents for my family and when I was parking, I hit the curb lightly. My car was perfectly aligned until I got out of the mall and go home. The ESC light was on then off like 30 minutes later.
When I got home, I accidentally hit the curb again and one of the front wheel was stuck. I can’t turn it or steer it. The other wheel was fine. From yall experience, i would like to ask for your opinions of diagnosing and probably cost of fix (so I wont be overcharged).
Thanks 🙏

Get under your car and look.
Sounds like a broken tie rod or broken ball joint.
Jack up the front of your car and have someone start the car and turn the wheel.
You will pretty easily see what is broken.

Of course be sure it is supported by a stand also. Does the steering wheel turn?

Get it towed to a body/frame shop or a good alignment and frame shop and have it put on a lift to find all of the damage. You had to hit it fairly hard to break a ball joint or other suspension parts. There is no way to give an accurate cost estimate without seeing the car and physically inspecting all front suspension components.

Thank you for letting me know! I’m not good with car but a friend of mine is taking a look today. Thanks for yall input, i’ll let him know too. I also suspected an alignment problem too

You mention the alignment was perfect. Do you know this because you just had it done? I have to wonder if it was properly done or something loosened and a little tap knocked it loose.

this.. but i have a feeeling from the original post it was a bit more than an isolated "little tap" incident

I got it done like 5 months ago @@ at NTB

so it seem like my friend said that the problem is the inner tire rod is broken. So do I need to change the tire rod only or the rack and pinion too?

Hopefully, only the tie rod. You should be able to tell if there is other damage quickly though.

thankyou for your guidance! do you know whatis the cost range for changing the tire rod? My friend told me it would be very expensive to change the rack and pinion (he estimated the labor cost would be $700) I’m so confused

Until you get your car to a shop and its up in the air so all suspension components can be checked for being bent, broken or pushed out of alignment people are just guessing. You should get it to a shop and have a real diagnosis done so a realistic cost can be determined.

^^^ What he said.
Too many things to diagnose without actually looking at it.
