  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The transmission in ln my 2010 genesis is acting strange driving the car the transmission gears are all over the place for example if I am going 30 or 20 mph it will be in 6 or 5 gear sometimes it sticks in gear. it skips gear it do rev high when in the higher gears but nothing really weird it will move forward. I changed fluid no shavings and the fluid was red not burnt....It went into limp mode? once and I did not shut it off because i wasn't close to anything the diagnostic codes are P0829 P2704 and P0735 i was told to try the mlp switch, any suggestions

Did you use correct fluid, in 2010 the Genesis sedan had 2 transmissions? The V8 has a ZF German built transmission and the V8 has the Aisin Japanese transmission. Each take a different particular type of fluid. Transmission fluids in cars now come in Amber, Blue, Clear, Red and maybe others. I think the fluid in the Genesis 4.6 v8 that I had was amber. I do know that the fluid for the V8 would not be red. I don't know about the V6 transmission.

the mechanic put the red fluid after he cross referenced it was also red fluid in the system already. and it ran fine for 3 years. but ill check.

Isn't the ZF fluid green? I know the Hyundai 8 speed from 2012+ ATF is red but I have seen ZFs drain and fill with green ZF fluid...

how can you tell what color the trans fluid is? sealed trans, no dip stick.

Remove the level check plug (next to "drain" plug). Some fluid should slowly leak out. Be ready to put the plug back in if it comes out fast though.

If you have the V8 it sounds like you're having a problem with the E Clutch in the transmission, there's more information on these transmissions on other forums such as Jaguar and BMW forums as there is a lot more of those out there than the V8 Gennys. But long story short, it could be a solenoid or a damaged E Clutch requiring a rebuild or replacement transmission.

I was thinking pressure issue ... pump, pressure control solenoid or similar. Wrong fluid could do it too.

I remember the occasional rough 2-1 shift on decel in my 2009 before I retired it. Recently found this interesting video:
