  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

the car seemed fine when I first turned it on this morning then after I drove a little bit I turned the car off and then about 30 minutes later I turned it on, started to idle rough and popped the code again of a misfire in cylinder 3 but last time it was 3 and 2 then from the drive from my house to my cousins house was okay till I started to drive normally the temp went up and the after I started to drive slow (below 3,500 rpms) it went back to normal temp and then went on high when I was idling at a red light but then went back to normal as I started driving. I tried turning the heater on and it seemed to to blow cold air then the temp went high again, as the heater was blowing and I was driving it started to blow hot air (NOTE: this happens on and off I don’t know why) and then the temperature regulated to the middle. What could be causing this?

Not sure about the misfire, but the coolant temp could be thermostat, sensor/sending unit, or water pump. Thermostat should be an easy replacement if you want to start with that and go from there.

I’ll check on that, I looked at my sparkplugs the other day and they were bad so the might be the reason on the misfire.

Assuming you checked the coolant level...

Rising temps while stopped could indicate a radiator fan not working. Check to see if it's spinning when the temp gauge goes on the hot side. I would think if the indicator is showing hot, the coolant temp sensor is probably working (unless there's a separate sensor for the fan). Could be a fan controller or motor.

How many miles? Could be a stuck thermostat but you'd think it would stay on the hot side full time.

Well, the motor has a 56,000 miles and the car itself has 86,000

Head gasket? Could cause a misfire. Is it using coolant? Why does it have a newer motor?

I slipped a rod lol and I constantly have to fill it with coolant
