  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I need some help making a decision purchasing a pre-owned 2012 Signature
with 20K miles. The car is in great condition, what bothers me is that the Carfax shows a rear end accident with no frame damage. A Mercedes Benz dealer has the car, according to the dealer they are telling me that it was minor rear bumper damage. I can buy the car for 35K, any advice?
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about a minor accident, if that is actually what happened. Since MB dealer seems to know happened, I am assuming they have some documentation of exactly what got repaired, so I would ask them for that (maybe get the name and phone number of the previous owner). But make sure the car drives straight.

Some early 2012 5.0 engines on the Genesis have had excess oil consumption, so I would try and see if you can do an test drive and oil test for at least 1,000miles before you purchase.

A 1,000 mile test drive?

I think it's a good deal. While I've never dealt with CarMax, I believe their "no-haggle" price is a fair proxy for true market value and they list a 2012 Equus with 22k miles for $39,000. Good luck.
