  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently bought a 2009 (manufactured Oct2008) V8 with 3k miles on it. I did test drive a 2010 in the process ... but didn't really see that much difference, well ... till I dropped my car at the dealer and drove a 2010 V6 loaner for the weekend. I immediately felt the difference ... but my problem is that the difference wasn't in harshness or the "bouncy-rear". The V6 just felt much less jerky or loose. While I like the V8 alot ... I seem to be distracted now a bit every time I get into the car - is my problem related to something else than springs/coils upgrade? Tires perhaps (mine are Dunlop at 33PSI)

It doesn't matter if u have a v6 or a v8,the suspension on bouth of them are trash.I testdrove a 2010 v8 and its so much better. The way i see it is that we have 2 choices:upgrade to a 2010 suspension or sell the car.

Even Consumer Reports when testing the 2010 (both 3.8 and 4.6) says the suspension is NERVOUS. I've even seen other writeups saying the suspension is nervous.

I AGREE. This is the only thing I hate about the Genesis. (There are a few other faults that I don't like, but the suspension is the main complaint). My wife is now telling me that the suspension is getting even worse than before. Again, I agree.

I agree so much, that I am looking to trade the Genesis for something else. Don't know what yet, but I did drive a couple other 2011 cars and if the deal is right, I will trade.

BTW, whenever anyone asks me "how do I like my Genesis, I tell them the whole truth, that I like most things, but the "Suspension Sucks" and is getting worse.

BTW, we recently went on a road trip to Roswell, Phoenix, San Diego and return to Florida, and because my wife HATES the rough ride of the Genesis, we took the Continental. Thats how much she hates the ride, and how much I am getting to dislike the ride.

I am one that also hates the suspension, but I put sand bags in the trunks and it seems to calm the 'nervousness' down a bit. Its not perfect, but the more miles I seem to put on it the better it rides. Maybe Im just getting used to it. :p

Im waiting on the 2012 R-spec to test drive. Im thinking with the new sports tuned suspension its going to be worse, but Im willing to wait.

I am getting sick of this suspension issue.I just put a new 2010 suspension on my 2009 genesis hopping that it wiil solve the problem with the bouncenes and the ruffnes but that didn't do it.That tell's me one thing....that it's more to it than just struts ,springs, shocks and sway bars.i will have the car back in to my mechanic next week to start checking the control arms and all the other bushings related to the suspension to see if we can come up with something.I only had the car for 14 month and i don't wana sell it yet because i will lose the $10.000 that i put down and the $2.000 that i just invested in parts but i don't know how much more i can take it.I just hope somebody will open a lawsuit against Hyundai so i can jump right in to.

On the other hand, I love the way the car drive and handles, and the suspension is absolutely not an issue for me. So its really a matter of preference....

I see no problems with my 2010 V8. My BMW rides far worse than my Genesis and I don't see any complaints from BMW owners.

When I put in the upgraded parts, it made a difference I could sense. Yes, it's still bouncy but not as bad as before. I also replaced the tires because they were wearing down and the Bridgestone Serrenity tires made another nice improvement in ride quality. But that's another 1,000 dollars and it sounds like to me you should just sell the car. One thing that I have noticed is that the dampening system is screwy. On most days it smooths out bumps etc. but on cold days or days rolling out of the garage going into the cold, makes the suspension ride stiff and jarring. I just noticed yesterday that the car rode so smooth. That was because it was 80 degrees out. The car is still bouncy though but it's does not bother me anymore since I did the upgrades.
