  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just picked up my new 2011 V-8. Titanium Gray w/saddle interior. Was down to this, a BMW 535 or Infiniti M37. After driving all three I quickly eliminated the Beemer, just too small in the back. The final choice was easy. I just liked it more and even with the V-8 and extended warranty (I put on lots of miles and worry about the reports about the navigation) it was still an economic no brainer!

Now if I can just figure out how to use all the "STUFF"... Thanks to this forum for great info that helped in the decision making.

Congrats on what I think is a great choice. You're gonna love it. There are a couple of threads that list many of the "stuffs" that will help you learn about all the gizmos and whizbangs.

Glad to have you here with your new "Genesis". The more time you spend in them, the more you will come to love this amazing car.

What the heck? What year for the BMW? A new 535 is like $15k higher than a Genesis...and the M37 probably $10k higher. IMO, They're like, not even in the same segment.. :p

Not in the same segment? You must mean snob segment. Because in the quality, fit, finish and accessory segment I found them to be in the exact same segment.

We got our 2011 4.6 on Sept. 20 and now have just under 5000 miles on it. We love this car. Had an Acura TSX and the Genesis is so much better driving and more comfort. It will take you some time to master the tech, but take the time to read and study the manual. My wife and I made a game of it and each day would learn one more thing. The connection for the cell phone and voice controls for phone and navigation are great.

congratulations... on the bmw, was that a 2011 or 2010? the 2011 is much larger (weighs more than our genesis and is just as long). the M37 would be a step down (in my opinion).. why live with 'I coulda had a V8!'

welcome to the board.

I don't know what you mean be "larger" but the Genesis has the following advantages:

Front leg room 2.9"
Rear leg room 2.5"
Rear shoulder room 1.7"
Front shoulder room both same room no advantage
Trunk room 2 cubic feet.

The BMW does have more head room. I see the specs and the BMW is longer but the space seem to be under the hood. If you sit in them the BMW seems to stretch out while the Genesis seems shorter. In fact my wife's first comment behind the wheel was, "Great, I can see the road on this one."

My wife loves her BMW but her having one convinced me that I do not want one. I have little tolerance for car problems and the number of issues she has had would have driven me nuts. Once or twice a month for the last 2 years for little problems that the Asian luxury cars do not have. I considered the 550i and the M56 because a V8 rear drive sedan was all I was considering. I am very happy with my Genesis and the fact that I have an extra $25k in my bank account. It is fast, comfortable and trouble free. Since I am retired, I don't have to impress anyone at the office with the fact that I can waste my money on a badge.

Yeah, I think it's easier to find a nice, affordable car, a BMW-ize it with a few mods here and there..

I have a 2007 Ford Fusion with some updated suspension mods and now it stays flat harder in turns or while changing lanes better than so many other sedans out there today. Ya know, as long as you get the right kind of struts/shocks, you're good to go. The only other downside to it is that you'd want to put those original parts back onto the car before you sell it at a dealer or sell it privately yourself. I don't think most professional dealers take kindly to aftermarket mods.
