  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Folks,

I have always loved the Genny, and although I do think the Gen 2 looks great, the Gen 1 seems to have taken a dive in price lately, so I am looking into taking the plunge and buying. Honestly, I was about to go for a Kia Cadenza, but dealers by me would not go for a market price, and could not get one shipped.

Anyways, do you have any suggestions as to whether I should go with the v6 or the v8? also do you recommend premium, tech, or no packages at all? Anything the car absolutely must have? I have seen some 13's laying around too... any thoughts on going with these?

Also, what should I look to pay (please tell me either if you mean OTD or before rebates etc). I am a little in the dark.

I have seen some bare bones ones go for about 25k on cars.com, but dealers in my area (so far, do not want to play ball).

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions beforehand.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Are you talking New, or demo, or used, or CPO??

A new/demo 2013 can be had for a Great price (if you can still find one)
You can get a new/demo Tech 2013 for less than a loaded 2015 Sonata.
2014's are exactly the same as a 2013's.
It would be well worth paying for a extended 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, because some parts like that radio and navigation systems are only covered for 3 years, and can cost thousands to replace. (You won't find a $149 radio in a Genesis)
I see no reason to go for the V8, since the V6 is crazy fast. (the V8 is insanely fast)

Hi Bill,

I am mainly talking new, only because the finances seem to work better. The APR on loans and the cash back, make these deals very enticing. Demo vehicles are great (in my book) but I have not been able to find many around me.

What would be the target price you would try to pay for a 13 with tech? (also, I should say that in general, I have only been able to come across 13 & 14 that are bare bone stock).

Finally, I was mainly leaning towards the V6, but wanted opinions

A starter price for a New 13 tech should be around $35,000. That is $10,000 off MSRP. Not too many of those around. A 14 Tech might be going for $38,000-$39,000. The longer it's been on their lot, the better you can squeeze them.
If you offer to buy the Hyundai extended warranty, they might let a 14 Tech go for close to $36,000-$37,000.
The Tech package makes it a whole different car than the base.

PS. You need to look on line at every Hyundai dealer within 50 miles to search for the right car, at the right price. If you print out a deal from a dealer a distance away, your local dealer will often match it..........Mine did..
