  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all, longtime lurker who just purchased the above. Picking up a new 3.3 in a few weeks or so, very excited!

Cross shopped & test drove the latest 340i LCI several times. I was not a fan of the giant touch screen, but could live with it. Main reason I ended up w/G70 was steering feel. The BMW was surprisingly bad, 0% wheel feedback. B58 is awesome, but really hard to forgive the steering. The C43 & S4 really didn't do it for me either - too stiff at all times or too vague driving response. The G70 was surprisingly better than many EPS systems I've tried lately. I also managed to try a V60 T8 polestar, I wanted to love that car, but it really isn't a sports sedan/wagon and the complicated powertrain gave me pause. Big wagon/hatch fan, my first car was an EP3 Si hatch. Driven some other BMWs and misc stuff in between.

Wish we had a tow hitch for bikes, but I'll make do w/a roof rack. That plus I can get a storage box for longer trips.

Waiting to break it in before doing any tuning (EK1 looking great, else lozic or lap3), but I think I'm going to get the valvetronic kit instead of a muffler delete. $600 + fab work is way cheaper than any of the other valved exhausts out there and should sound good based on muffler delete vids (not expecting any power except butt dyno of course).

Current car (that I'm keeping) is a 124 spider w/FMIC, exhaust, intake, plugs, etc. & tune to about 250 at the crank. Canned tuned not dyno'd so just approximate. Stock 3.3T felt slower/less power per gear, but with the auto trans & torque curve I'm sure it's a much faster car. ~250hp in a ~2400lb car is great fun; I really notice the overall weight & effect it has on turn in on the G70! But this will be my daily, and the comfort and assist features are great. I'm mostly deaf after a few hrs in the 124 from the wind noise!

FWIW, the dealer 2 wks ago suggested the reason 2024 MY has not been announced yet is because HMG is pondering releasing ONLY a revised 2.5T version. Grains of salt apply, but this was the dealer manager per his latest conversation w/corporate.

Best to all, looking forward to your support in modding!

124 pics are before FMIC & exhaust, but don't have any recent ones handy

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your brand new Genesis G70! I hope time flies until you pick it up... So I see you're into modding! Check out the forum store for all sorts of interesting ideas. Have you considered the JB4?

Have you done any 1/4 mile runs with the 124 Spider? Curious about how quick it is..

I have not. The 124 has the NC gen MX-5 trans to handle additional torque, and even after amsoil fluid swap mine still does not like to be rushed into gear. Fast changes are fine, but more brutal 1/4 pass changes tend to grind 2nd. Possibly I got some bad synchros from the factory, but a trans rebuild is a long way off. I just like to take it out and enjoy some good twisty roads.

I considered JB4 for the G70 and may still go that route if I don't feel the need for too much more power. I will live with the car for a while before modding anything powertrain so I can try and determine how far I want to go.

The 124 is an excellent car for the twisties - so I know what you mean. Hard to beat that fun to drive factor...

Yes, feel out the G70 and see where you want to go with it. You could just keep it simple and leave it as is. It's a great performer without doing anything but hitting the pedal. If you DO go for more power, there's really something about a simple plug 'n play solution. Then again, there's also something to having insane power. :p While those days are over for me, I can't deny they weren't 'entertaining'...

Thanks! In all likelihood I'll stay stock tune, I really hope I don't want for more power after break in. The 10/100k powertrain warranty was part of the what attracted me to the G70 beyond what I mentioned above, but we'll see if I end up wanting more.

I ordered the front 2022+ badge from your store last week based on the thread w/@JCtx, plan to remove all and just have the logo in the back. Way too much going on back there; genesis, 3.3t, 4wd, g70, it's a mess. Got a quart of 3M 08984 adhesive cleaner to help with the job.

Edit: not sure how to properly tag people. Is it locked for new members maybe?

I think you'll be fine with the stock tune. And thank you for your support! I hope you share a picture after the changes are made. As for tagging, it worked - just strange to still see the "@" there.
