In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I believe the others have been posted before. I'm still waiting for the chrome lower door trim pieces (from the V8) to become available. :( Korean Auto Imports still doesn't have any and their pricing is a bit too high anyway IMO.

I'd like to know if dealers are going to get the Genesis badge (the original), since the one from Korean Imports seems to be a replica. I don't know about anyone here but I have a problem with putting a 'fake' badge when the real thing should be available. That's kinda like buying a Coach bag for your wife in NY streets..... It looks identical until you take a closer look and see it's flaws; plus the tag on the inside says Roach instead of Coach.

Elm,
The part I got was in a Hyundai logo-branded plastic bag with a p/n, so I didn't think it was a knock-off (see my photo album for pix)... And I sure didn't get it from a street vendor from Battery Park!
Seriously though I don't want a fake part either I think they are selling the genuine article.

Try emailing this guy. He is an eBay vendor located in Seoul Korea. Very responsive to my emails re wheel caps. His stuff comes by mail 7-14 business days from Korea. By far, best pricing around. When I first emailed him all he had on eBay was the Wings. I asked about wheel caps and when he responded they were on his eBay site.

Cool... thanks for the info guys... good work on the badging replacement. Now it seems you guys got the authentic badge from Hyundai but has anyone notice a difference in these badges? I was trying to look for the Korean Black Genesis w/ the aftermarket wheels and Brembos.... that car had the wing badge but the top wing was more flat, like this one:

But the ones you guys have, has the wings elevated a bit:

Not trying to stir anything... just a bit

Didn't someone in the aftermarket subforum that was from a Hyundai dealer say that the wing on the front had more swept back wings than the rear as they are two separate parts?

As someone who has been researching the Genesis sedan, I am very glad that I came across this discussion thread regarding the authenticity of the Genesis badges obtained through aftermarket sources.

I too am interested in re-badging my Genesis sedan once I make my purchase but am only willing to "re-badge" with the real McCoy. If we can be certain that these aftermarket sources are indeed providing genuine OEM badges then I would be more at ease doing business with them.

I believe Elm is correct, the front badge is more curved than the rear one. I have ordered the "rear" wing to confirm. There was some initial confusion and we con-conformists have taped the front badge on the rear... but it does look very nice!

Why Hyundai would make two separate style badges for front and back is beyond me. Doesn't that add extra costs, not to mention confusion as to which goes where?

I strongly recommend avoiding Korean Imports. They clearly show two different badges when they solicit for orders for the Genesis badge, but they only ship one badge--the front--and it doesn't sit truly flush if applied to the rear. Then they refuse to answer any emails. Thus far, my experience indicates that they're totally disreputable. I'll probably have to dispute the charge to get any satisfaction from them.

Cliffbig,

KAI actually has both badges now. You are correct in that they were only shipping the front badge initially, but that changed a week ago. I ordered both from them. The back badge fits perfectly while the front badge still needs to be sanded down to be applied on the front.

Problem is, they sent me a product that wasn't what was advertised and refuse to respond to any emails about it. I would have gladly waited for the proper product, but they didn't bother offering me that option--they just shipped an incomplete order, billed me for the whole thing, and then refused to do anything reputable in followup.

Caveat emptor. Right now, their actions tell me they're scam artists who misrepresent what they're selling. I'd love to see them take the steps to demonstrate this conclusion is incorrect.

As far as brand imaging, it is not conventional wisdom to have two versions of the same logo because it leads to consumer confusion (such as these posts!). It also confused KAI a little.

Nevertheless there are two distinct badges for the front and rear. The plastic bag for the part clear states on the label hood or trunk. They are both the same width and approx size but the front one has elevated wings and is curved to conform to the hood. The rear badge is more square and flat. The two plastic pins are smaller and sized to fit the slots in the rear of the trunk.

Even if the emblems were identical they would be two separate parts for the front badge to conform to the curve of the hood.

Heard from Korean Auto Imports; they're trying to weasel out and claim that they I chose to order front badge only, even though we know that wasn't an option at the time of ordering, and their photos showed both badges.

These guys are thoroughly disreputable. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS! It looks like I'll have to dispute the charge with AmEx since they refuse to ship the rear badge unless I pay an additional $32.55, making their price more than double what you will pay on eBay for a set of both badges.
