  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New battery

thanks all for the feedback, I did find an H8 before in the bay area, but I wasn't looking to replace at the time.

My current battery is the original one that came with the car since Feb.2011. I'm at 30,000+ miles.
I only drive my car every other weekend most times and it's parked on the street. I do however take it for long drives when I use it, be it an hour or 2, or road trips.

I've finally replaced the stock tires at Costco a few months back when I hit a double flat parking in Oakland broken glass laden streets.
The Serenity Plus recommended by members here were spot on, very quiet.

I just replaced the original battery in my 2011 Genesis (built in July 2010). I got the Walmart EverStart Maxx. It was a few cents shy of $120 before tax. The fit was perfect. I used the vent plug from the old battery but there is one attached to the positive terminal cover which can just be snapped off. Good warranty and lots of Walmarts wherever you go. Nice carrying handle too. CCA on new one is 900 vs. 780 on the original. But the RC (Reserve Capacity) is 140 vs. the better 190 on the original. It was made by Johnson Controls who (according to Wiki) makes 1/3 of world's lead-acid batteries. My radio stations stayed programmed with no battery installed for 15-20 minutes. That was a nice surprise.

As you know there is a lot of bad information out there. The mechanic at Walmart told me that it was not necessary to plug the unused vent hole as it was automatically sealed until the vent tube was inserted. I doubt this is correct.

One YouTube video showed the author undoing the positive terminal first. And instead of undoing the hold-down clamp & lifting the battery out he removed the spare tire and forcibly slid it to the side. Given the comments he received I'm surprised he left the video up.
