  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm very impressed with the 2015 Genesis Sedan, and planning to purchase the 3.8 RWD w/ Signature Package, Casablanca White over beige. MSRP is $43,050, dealer invoice is $40,550.

I think I can get the dealer down to invoice or slightly above. Is this reasonable for a new 2015 Genesis?

go to truecar.com and price it out..whatever you see you can probably get another 2-3% lower..

Sam, that's great info thank you. I would be very satisfied with that price.

HMA holdback to dealer for Hyundai is 3%, so this is about how much dealer makes even when sold at invoice price. Plus, look for incentives such as competitive brand or Hyundai loyalty, etc.

I have negotiated my Genesis at 2 dealerships in Austin. Both agreed to $500 under invoice. But, there is a $250 advertising fee, so it ended up being $250 under invoice. I bought from South Point Hyundai and my salesman was Lawrence Chang. He is the best salesperson I have ever dealt with. I recommend calling him, if you are in the area. The dealership has a $200 documentary fee, which is typical.

I negotiated a 2nd Genesis in Atlanta for a friend of mine. The price I got for him was $400 under invoice. But, there was a $300 advertising fee. Atlanta area dealers charge an outlandish $700 documentary fee. The bottom line is the Atlanta vehicle was $650 more than the Austin vehicle.

Both were excellent prices for this vehicle. Applicable rebates were subtracted from these numbers and TT&L was added.

I have one of the few awd tech in my area MSRP 48950, i paid 46k..TTL was another 1860

here in va we have personal property tax so i'm waiting on that bill..that will most likely be an extra 1200 on the taxes

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

I'm currently negotiating with a dealer in Kirkland, WA, for a 3.8 AWD with Utlimate package. The quote is $48,738, OTD is $53,954. I'm curious to hear what others have paid for this same configuration.

BTW, the dealer said Hyundai policy precludes dealerships from swapping out the "H" for the Wings emblem. However, that is counter to what I've been reading on this forum.

Most other people are getting dealer invoice price or lower (dealers get a 3% holdback from Hyundai after the sale so that is why they can sell at invoice price and make money). You can look up the invoice price on the web (or maybe in this forum).

Hyundai Motor America has asked dealers to not remove the H on the trunk, but they have no legal authority to enforce that. Some comply, and some don't. The dealers have to purchase the wings from same source as we do (from vendors who purchase them from dealers in Korea and import them to USA, since the wings are standard on Korean version). Hyundai Motor America is trying to improve their brand recognition and reputation by selling the Genesis as a Hyundai.

My mom bought her car on Saturday, and the dealership proactively did the trunk badge swap. (She forgot to ask for it in the deal.)

Today I visited a local Atlanta dealer whom agreed to swap out the deck lid badge, as well as extend $500 below invoice pricing. I told the dealer I'll be ready to make the purchase within two weeks time.

Look at the "prices paid" thread. It seems there is quite a bit a leeway with the tech and ultimate packages, with buyers negotiating $5k or more off MSRP. I imagine the discounts are less with the lower packages.

Go to Car Pros in Renton. I got a sweet deal there. It was the Circle pricing and got good money on my trade in. see Jane or Francisco. Also Lonnie is a good sales manager. Good service too.

Most buyers in the US can easily get a dealer to sell the car under dealer invoice. If the Monroney sticker does not show advertising fees don't pay them. That's just profit for the dealer.

Seattle Genesis,

Thanks for the tip on Car Pros. I'll definitely check them out and let everyone know how it goes.

The advertising fee is $250 per vehicle in Austin and $300 per vehicle in Atlanta.

I was able to negotiate a $650 lower price in Austin than Atlanta.

If your paying over $100 for a "doc fee".. Your getting ripped off. Its supposed to be for the processing of all documentation. Some states have a limit and some dont. Dealerships are "padding" their bottom line with this fee.

Same thing with "inventory tax". The dealership gets taxed on their inventory and they will try to roll it over to you... Dont pay it.

Same for that advertising fee..

The vehilcle price
Destination charge
TT&L
maybe a road and bridge fee.

Anything else is padding.
