New CPO 2015 Genesis Owner

I purchased a fully loaded CPO 2015 Genesis about a month ago after having my 2010 Infiniti M35X totaled when a jeep ran through a red light. I had always followed the Genesis story over the years and decided to go the used route instead of a brand new, lesser car. While I have a few complaints my overall impression is very positive so far. While I still loved my Infiniti this car has proven to be a major step up.

Positives include:

  1. Cabin is so quiet.
  2. Overall solid feel, quality interior.
  3. Acceleration (once moving)
  4. Sound system
  5. Remote start from phone app
  6. Auto high beam feature
  7. Auto truck open feature
  8. Cool, different looking car

Negatives:

  1. Gas guzzler. At least it takes regular gas though (Infiniti was a gas guzzler too and took premium)
  2. Head lights seem to be pointed to low?
  3. Front parking assist not working (getting fixed week after next)
  4. I think the rear climate system might not be working too (option grayed out)

To fix your headlights take it to a dealer and ask them to aim them higher. OR go to Lowes and buy this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-2-Phillips-Screwdriver/1000595819 pop the hood and find the adjustment on each corner behind the headlight. There are arrows and U and D direction indicators stamped on the plastic covering.
I just fixed mine.

What do you mean your rear climate controls are grayed out? Is your car equipped with separate rear climate controls?
 
I found that a #2 phillips head was too "fat" to fit in the hole. The number 1 fit fine. Also, you dont have to press hard to adjust, it is very easy to turn and raise the lights.

I fixed that. When I pressed the Climate button on the dash the screen shows the interior of the car and where the airflow is going. On that screen is a checkbox for Rear Climate Control that was grayed out. I found the rear vents were closed and when I opened them the box was no longer grayed out.

Thanks for the tip. How are you doing that, while the lights are on in a dark garage? How much are you turning, 1/4 turn or are we talking much bigger turns? Any issue with getting both headlights to 'match' in height?

I agree with surprisinguy. Everywhere I read says #1 is the correct size mostly due to the skinny shaft. I took a gamble and found what I thought was a skinnier shaft #2 Phillips at Lowes. I actually bought two different screwdrivers just in case, and yes, one of them was to fat to stick in the hole the other one barely fit. The one I linked fits but just barely. He is correct, it doesn't not take a lot of effort to turn. Get a flashlight in position shining down at the nut on the back of the headlight housing to make sure you locked in and turning.

The best way to do it is obviously at night in a dark flat area with the headlights on and some time to kill. Adjust them up, then go for a drive. If you notice you are annoying other drivers or illuminating highway signs turn them down a half turn. It was a bit of trial and error, I just kept the screw driver with me for a few days. I went about 3 full turns up at first (probably excessive). They were too high (duh), then did half turns to get them back down to where I saw an improvement and I wasn't pissing off other drivers. If I recall it was 3 turns up and 1 and 1/2 down so math would tell you about 1 and 1/2 full turns up should get you in the ball park. Again it is your preference. I had no issues getting them to match just as long as you do both sides equally.

Since I lowered my car the headlights were way too low. I pulled up in the parking lot at the side of Rooms2Go and aimed at the brick wall. I raised mine prob 5-6 inches on the wall. Of course it's going to vary by how far away you are. I can prob raise mine a few more inches.

On my 16 a #2 definitely won't fit, and the tube to access the gear is too far inward (actually outward) to access without removing the shroud.
 
Hate to resurrect such a old post but I need some help as well. Just bought a used '15 and don't even want to drive it at night. The forward projection is horrible. I plan on tackling this today. Do you guys remember which way was up/down... clockwise/counter clockwise?
