  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2013 sedan with 3.8. 23000 miles, when accelerating I hear what sounds like an exhaust leak or air leak. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this. I checked everything and everything is tight. Going to dealer next week to have it checked.
Thanks

My guess:
A loud hiss on acceleration (absent engine performance issues ala vacuum leak) is probably a gasket failure or hole somewhere in the exhaust.

If you want to sleuth it out, get a vacuum cleaner hose. Hold one end to your ear and use the other end to probe around the engine/exhaust for your hiss.

Did you ever find out what was causing the noise?
I have a 2012 4.6 and have a loud hiss noise under load like a exhaust cover is missing.

Been in once, they think its the timing belt, needs adjusting. Going in next week to take the engine down further. Will update...

Timing belt?
You mean timing chain?

I can't imagine a timing chain making a hissing sound unless perhaps it is the sound of a idler bearing going bad.
