  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello there! New Genesis owner and forum member here! Last week I picked up a 2016 Genesis 3.8 with a little under 19k miles and so far I'm loving the car. After about 10 years and 100k miles in a 2002 Maxima I decided it was time for an upgrade and what an upgrade it is! After my first test drive it was immediately obvious to me just how old my previous car had become :D. I'm excited to get to know the car more and soak up all the info on the forum that I can. Thanks in advance to all those who have contributed so far!

Welcome Steve,

I know they all look pretty much the same, but I never tire of seeing pictures of them. Post some when you get them taken.

Welcome to the Genesis/Hyundai family. You won't be disappointed. If you go back many years I used to snicker at people that bought the original Hyundai Excel. Remember that one? It was the one where the paint on the hood and roof was down to the primer after a few years. About 2006 I took notice of the good looking Sonata and ended up buying a 2007. Then a 2010. Then a 2013. Then I drove a Genesis and bought a 2015 and 10 days ago a 2018. IMO, Hyundai and Genesis offer the best value in the automotive market, not to mention pretty sharp styling.

I've owned 26 cars in my driving life and the last few have been my best ever. My guess is you will feel the same. Enjoy your new ride.

Hey there! Welcome to the family!!
I know you will enjoy the car, otherwise you would have not purchased it ;)

Welcome to the fold! What color did you get?

Buying a used Genesis is very smart due to their high depreciation

Hi Everyone, I have a Genesis 2016 3.8 with 13,000 miles on it. I absolutely love the car but I am very disappointed with all the pitting in not only my windshield but all of my windows. When the sun hits the windows all these damn dots show up and it's driving me crazy. I take excellent care of my car and clean the windows daily.
I have read that other Genesis owners have the same problem supposedly because of the soft glass that they use on the car. My previous car was a Buick and I never had a problem with any sort of pitting.
Since all my windows are loaded with this pitting , could it have been a defect in the glass when the glass was made? This problem will most likely affect my decision to get another Genesis or Hyundai as I have read that other Genesis drivers have had the same problems. Except that I have not seen where anybody has the pinning on all their windows like I do. I'm at a loss as to how to fix the problem.

If it's on the front windshield, i believe that it would be considered a safety issue, and you should take it to the dealer you got it from and have them correct it.

The proper way to correct it is to replace it. It may be possible to polish it out but there is o accepted way to do it. You can hope that a rock hits and breaks it so insurance will cover it.

Thanks for the welcomes! The Genesis I got is Empire State Grey with Black interior. I haven't taken any pictures yet but plan to after a proper wash and wax.

I did a lot of research before buying this car. I'm pretty picky when it comes to what I drive and I haven't been impressed with the look of most cars on the market today. We've been a Nissan family for awhile and having been a Maxima owner for the past 10 years I was sort of expecting to end up in a 2017 Maxima. After driving a few of them I just couldn't do it. Too loud inside, pretty uncomfortable seats, and the CVT just isn't fun to drive. I test drove several other cars but wasn't impressed with anything and being 6'5" I tend not to fit in smaller cars. I came across the 2016 Genesis, drove it once, and immediately loved it. Smooth, quiet, roomy, comfortable. It's a friggin' dreamboat as far as I'm concerned!
