  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is coming in the mail to me tomorrow. I wonder what recall secrets it holds...

starter solenoid gets wet and may cause a short and a fire. Probable Solution is to install a new relay????

While talking to connected services today to cancel them auto renewing my connected services, they told me a new recall is coming on my 2020 G70. They do not have a fix yet, but something to do with a left side turbo oil line potential leak resulting in possible fire. I remember this affecting Hyundai or Kia a while back but guess now it has morphed over to Genesis? Was told I’ll be notified via the mail soon.

That's what that mailing I posted above says. It basically says they don't know what they are going to do so hang tight and keep the car parked outside if possible.

I read on FB that a fix is available. The poster also mentioned that the dealer should now have a tool to help fix this. As a plus this tool allows the repair without having to literally drop the engine to get access to the tube. I hope it's true, as I'm not that comfortable with having my engine pulled. I was wavering if/when I should get the fix as so few have had this issue. I'm calling Monday to hopefully schedule the fix.

Let us know the specifics of what the dealer actually does? Any thing severe and I’ll probably avoid the dealer and just do frequent inspections. I don’t trust the dealer will not fix the one issue but create two new issues.

Got my recall notice today for my 2020 G70. Left hand turbo oil supply pipe could leak. Not a fan of a dealer monkey’g with oil supply to the turbo and possibly introducing foreign matter into the oil here. Anyone have the dealer instructions on how they remove this oil supply pipe or exactly how buried it is? Would just assume right now perform inspections and if I see an oil weep here then worrying about fixing it. Wonder if the new oil pipe has changed configuration or seals maybe?

I got my notice for the turbo oil supply pipe yesterday and made an appointment for May 21 to have it fixed. Luckily I have a dedicated stand-alone Genesis dealership about 1/2 hour from me. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

My normal service advisor told me that I was the first G70 owner to make the appointment and that it's been almost all G80 owners since the notice was mailed.

tried to make an appointment this week and was told by the dealer that no part and therefore no fix is available yet and they are not taking any appointments for it. No time frame given. When I asked how they planned to notify me once they had the part in stock, they mentioned another update would be coming from Genesis. Based on the reports here of another Genesis dealer taking cars in for the fix, was this my dealer giving me a B/S story?

I had mine scheduled for 2 weeks ago. Part didn't come in. Dealer figured it should be in mid June. So we scheduled for early July. They thought it would be in, but no guarantee. Dealer didn't mention about another update. They had already done a handful of these.

Once you get yours fixed, whenever that is, let me know how it was and if you’re happy? At some point I will get mine done from a dealer in DFW and if your happy with your dealer I’ll drive over to that part of town vs just picking a dealer cold.

did my final complimentary svc this week (coming up on three years in a matter of days) and svc rep had a stack of requests for that recall part on his desk. He added me to the pile and will notify once parts come in. No time frame. Will let you know once i get it done. I service mine at Huffines in Plano and I have been very happy. They are completing their stand-alone Genesis building by year's end. Right now they are in trailers and it is a mess.

I'm taking my 2019 G70 into the dealership (Elder Hyundai/Genesis in Macomb, MI) to have this recall done today and the service writer said the part is on the way and should be delivered today as well. They will have the car for 3-4 days and I'm supposed to get a loaner (it's a combined Hyundai/Genesis dealership so I may get a Hyundai). Anyone have any comments on this timeframe based on their experience getting this recall done?

Thanks,
CarGuy55

I'm on the west side of MI. I had a June appointment but part was delayed. (Kalamazoo )Rescheduled to July 1. I got a call Monday to reschedule again due to load of techs. So now it's August. But I asked how long it would take and they are emphatic that it's 3 hours or so....not days. They've done them on others so they might be right. Fwiw, I am waiting at dealership vs getting a loaner. I did purchase my GV from Elder.

My appt for July 1st for the oil line recall was cancelled, wanted to wait until our next trip out to Las Vegas, NV and my service writer thought that was a good plan. They have just moved into a stand alone dealership and the dust is still settling there. He also said that recent ransomware hack that's affected a large sector of the auto industry has hit the Genesis dealers too, they're not able to get parts ordered and tracked and it's put a lot of service appts on hold :(

I believe 4-5 hrs seems to be the time range for the repair, and they are able to do 2 per day (at least at the Las Vegas dealership).

I dropped my car off at Elder yesterday and the service writer verified that the part was in. They will call me when it's ready and I got a 2025 G70 as a loaner. It's a down-spec car (I really miss the 360 camera & front parking sensors!) and the rearrangement of the steering wheels is disconcerting as well as puzzling. They didn't promise a delivery date, but they were going to try and get it done before the 4th...

Enjoy,

I still don't understand why it takes more than one day. I guess I could see 2 if one drops it off since the time pressure isn't there. Plus, maybe it was dropped mid day. Anyway, thanks for the updates and hope that things get done with good timing for you.

I think some dealers use a queue system, get your car into the queue and it takes what it takes, if there's a setback ahead of your car it can set the whole appt line back. The Las Vegas dealer was saying w/ current backlog it's taking up to three days from drop off to pick up :(
Another reason I'm ok w/ waiting until Sept, hopefully this gets ironed out so it's down to a single day, and since I'm 800 miles away time is not my friend lol. At least I'll have a loaner throughout :)

Does it at least have the 3.3T? If not be careful if you need to pass on a two lane road
:D If it has that 2.5T would be interesting to see how well it does though.

It'd a 3.3T AWD just like my 2019. It would have been interesting to drive a 2.5T for comparison purposes, but I'll get by with another 3.3T!
