  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Genesis Recall

I still don't understand why it takes more than one day. I guess I could see 2 if one drops it off since the time pressure isn't there. Plus, maybe it was dropped mid day. Anyway, thanks for the updates and hope that things get done with good timing for you.
It was dropped off at noon, so they were extremely busy and I suspect they may be a little light on staff next week thanks to the holiday. At least I have a loaner while they have it.

They finished and returned my car today. Based on the time lapse between a call to inform me that a tech was working on my car and the call telling me that it was ready to pick up, I would estimate about 5 hours to complete the oil line replacement (which likely included a lunch break). All is operating properly and I haven't noticed any memory or infotainment issues, so I will give Elder Genesis a (y)!! As always, it's great to be back in my own car!!
Enjoy,

The whole recall scenario is a total clusterf**k. Got an email from Genesis to book an appointment and did that. Drove an hour to the dealer and the service person told me that there is a 2nd recall for my 2024 GV70 but the parts are not in. So he checked on the recall that I made the appointment for and the part is also not in stock for that. Why in the world would they accept such a specific appointment for a recall when they can't correct it because of no parts. The service person gave me his card and said the parts would be ordered against the VIN number and to wait for his call, that was 2 weeks ago.

There is a fly in the Genesis ointment and it is the difficulty of getting parts, feels almost like living in a 3rd world country where only parts come in through the black market.

I guess I'm still an analog guy at heart as I have always called the dealership to verify an appointment and parts availability before I drive to a dealership, even though it's only 2 miles away in the case of my G70. And for this recall, I asked about the parts before scheduling the visit based on message traffic on this board posted by other owners who were told "no parts"; sometimes the old way is still the best way...

Since this is my very first Genesis and my very first recall, I now know better. Fool me once...

Got the business card of the person caring for this recall of mine so, this will not happen again.

At least I have a loaner while they have it.
A good loaner will get forgiveness from me. I understand that cars break down. I just want to be able to get my car in and get a reasonably equivalent loaner and if they do that, I am very understanding of any delays in fixing my car.

If they don't do it, and I need that service, I will be driving down the road to the Penske collection to get a car from a dealership that will do that (My prior BMWs were from that collection and I always could call in for service and be told "come on down" and provided with a loaner).

So far my dealer has met my needs through scheduled maintenance. I was asked/told that I needed to make an appointment several weeks out for that scheduled maintenance but that is okay with me. It is the unscheduled need for service that concerns me. But so far my dealer has been good so I am optimistic.

BTW I had a good experience early on and wrote an email to the General Manager praising the service. He wrote back to thank me. Building interpersonal relationships with key service personnel can be very helpful. If my car broke down and needed immediate service, and they did not tell me to come on in, I would reach out to the general manager and give him a chance to fix it. Only if he failed or refused would I leave the dealership (for good).

I'm on the west side of MI. I had a June appointment but part was delayed. (Kalamazoo )Rescheduled to July 1. I got a call Monday to reschedule again due to load of techs. So now it's August. But I asked how long it would take and they are emphatic that it's 3 hours or so....not days. They've done them on others so they might be right. Fwiw, I am waiting at dealership vs getting a loaner. I did purchase my GV from Elder.
Update. So today, August 7th, I got the recall service performed. Checked in at 8:30 and checked out at 11:30. Also did cabin filter replacement and wash. So far so good! I really didn't think I'd be out before noon (yes I waited at the dealer.) As an aside, this dealer sends a video as to the inspection that they do. I found it pretty cool. Not great in detail, but enough to show they did the work. I'll have to give Genesis of Kalamazoo an A for today's experience. Of course, that's assuming the fix was done correctly. Only time will tell on that. I hope others' experience with this recall repair is as good as mine.
