If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Folks -- am trying to decide between these two cars -- just drove both cars -- 4.6 genesis with tech and a loaded 2007 LS460 -- about the same price and loved both of them. Wonder if others made a similar decision -- know the LS and Equus may be better comparators, but am trying to decide between these two great cars. Thanks folks!

It depends what you are looking for. The Genesis is a fantastic sports sedan, the Lexus a wonderful luxury car more oriented to cruising rather than driving. Also you don't say how many miles the Lexus has on the odometer or what kind of warranty you get with it. Post-warranty, Lexus parts & labour can get very expensive. You will also pay more for sevicing the Lexus than the Genesis. Both great cars though.

I think it also depends on whether the pre-owned LS460 has the Mark Levinson sound system upgrade, navigation, and other similar options that might be on the Genesis you are comparing it to.

I've now had the pleasure of driving both cars, the Lexus quite extensively. So here's my take; If you enjoy the feeling of you driving the car while feeling the road, then by all means it's the Gennie; however if you enjoy the cushy let the car drive me feeling, then it's the Lexus. The added bonus with the Gennie is having people gawking at your car with the "what the hell is that" look on their face. Good happy miles with your choice.

One thing is clear.
In the genesis, You can get a lot of attention from people.
You can also enjoying rarity.

Last December I traded a 2006 LS for my 4.6 Tech Genesis. I now have 6000 miles on the Genesis. My milage is about the same as the 430 LS, the ride is firmer but after driving I prefer the new ride. I have adaptive Cruise, a more complete electronic system, and the same size and accomodations. Previously I had owned five LS' in a row. since 1990. It was a difficult decision which I have never regretted. (Quoted difference between Genesis and new 460 was $31000 dollars) I will continue to buy Hundai.

I'd personally go with the Genesis. New car > 3-4 year old car for me. :)

thanks all for the great input...appreciate it. Thought that there may have been folks that have driven both as well. Tough decision -- the LS I am looking at is the loaded version (Levinson/Nav/Park Assist) with around 35K miles. Am hoping to decide within the next week and will let folks know!

For my other questions, can I do better than HAPP pricing for a new 4.6?

Not usually. Some dealers may even balk at the HAPP pricing, coming up with some excuse as to why they cannot offer it, especially on Tech Packages.

The Genesis is a great car, but the Lexus LS is probably even better in terms of luxury.
I sat in one for a few minutes to play around with the controls and what not, and I was really impressed with the overall creature comforts and quality.
However, a little more features plus a Lexus badge comes with a hefty price difference.
Heck, if those two cars were priced the same, I would get the LS no doubt.(No offense, Hyundai)
But value per dollar-wise, Hyundai Genesis hands down.

I'm a new car person, so I wouldn't consider a 3~4 years old car priced at ~$40k.
But that's just me. :)
Good luck, either way you're getting into a great car.
Let us know how it goes.

Dan

4.6 genesis with tech offers more spacious interior volume, high-end audio system(car audio for Rolls Royce Phantom), more powerful engine, longer warranty, fuel economy, rarity.

most of all,
New > Used.

The Mark Levenson audio system on the Lexus ain't too shabby.
