  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First I want to thank all of you for posting on these forums, your threads and posts answered a lot of my questions and helped me decide that the Genesis is definitely the car for me (well that and the test drive :D ). So I picked up a White 2011 3.8 Genny with the Premium Plus package, cashmere interior, absolute pristine condition. I love this car, it is hands down the best car I’ve ever owned. That said, now that I actually own one and have been driving it around for about 2 months, I have new questions, ones that I couldn’t find an answer to in Google University.

Instead of starting a bunch of separate threads, thought I’d ask them all at once, and hope that some of you know the answer to one or two until I get answers for them all. Here’s my questions:

1. I'm thinking about getting the KDM air bag with Genny emblem, so:
a. As far as I know, there’s only two steering wheel airbag colors – black and dark grey/brown. But SFR has their color options listed as “black” or “beige” – anyone know if “beige” is what they are calling the dark grey/brown color?
b. How much should I put the old one with the flying “H” on eBay for? $100-$200 maybe?

2. Is there a way to bypass the navi disclaimer that pops up every time I start the car?

3. It seems to me the armrest in cars without the tech package have just one lid to the storage below, cars with tech package have two (one shallow, one deep). Will the armrest with two lids fit my car which only has one lid?

4. I would like to clear my headlights at some point. Before I bake them apart, does anyone know if the amber reflector can be easily removed, or would it involve a lot of cutting?

5. Anyone have advice on changing the T10/168/194 driving bulb in the hi-beam reflector?
a. Also anyone know where to find an error free LED with heatsink?

6. I’m looking at putting some 19’s on the car, and possibly selling the OEM wheels and tires to help fund the purchase. Any advice on whether I should keep the OEMs or not?

Thanks for reading and for any answers you share with me!

I don't have answers for your questions, but Welcome! :welcome:

Welcome!

The armrest for the 2 level Tech console lid seems to be a bit more padded than the base/premium models lid. My local Hyundai parts guy confirmed that they are two different parts. If you are just looking to make your lid softer, recommend you check with an auto upholstery shop. I was quoted $100 to do that. They said they could likely use the original material over fatter padding. Also said they could match the material if needed.

The "beige" color for the airbag cover is the only alternative to the black one. That's the one for the cashmere (beige) interiors. KAI also stocks them. Have a look at the lighted door sills too. I bought them for my front doors only and they look great. Easy install. Also, why not order some chrome-colored side trim? Again an easy DYI installation.

Depending upon where you live I'd keep the OEM wheels for winter use.

Hey thanks! :)

Ok well I want the armrest with two lids, because one big storage bin is dumb. So I'm hoping I can just swap lids? You think that'll work?

The "beige" color for the airbag cover is the only alternative to the black one.
Great - that's what I'm gonna order then. Thanks!

Wow awesome info. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

btw i was asking about keeping the OEM wheels in storage for resale purposes down the road when I eventually trade the car in. Will having the OEMs make it easier to sell/trade in?

Thanks for all the replies guys! :D

Changing the lid will not get you a two level console.

Argh. Yeah I was hoping for the best, but I had a feeling that was the case. Thx for the answer PMCE. :)

Onto another of my questions: anyone know anything about the navigation disclaimer? It's really annoying that it doesn't just go away by itself in 10 seconds like a lot of other cars. :(

It's a common complaint - unfortunately, there's no apparent fix.

My previous car, an '11 TL SH-AWD Tech, had the same warning, and if I didn't hit I Agree, the screen would just turn off. But, if I wanted to use anything with the screen, like Nav, audio, or even see the caller ID of an incoming call, the disclaimer would be there and I would still have to hit I Agree.

After experiencing both, I like the way Hyundai does it. It was pretty inconvenient when an incoming call would ring, but I could not see who it was.

What I don't like though is when I turn the screen off (using the Display button) and then go into reverse (rear camera turns on), it doesn't remember that the screen was off after going into drive.

If selling/trading in later definitely keep the OEM wheels. Dealers don't like to try and sell modified cars.

Aw man, that stinks. But thx for lettin me know.

YES. That also kinda annoys me that it doesn't remember what I was looking at last (or not looking at in this case :D )

Ok I had a feeling that was the case, guess I gotta save up my pennies since I'm ballin on a budget.

Thx for all the responses guys! I guess the last thing I'm still curious about is the amber reflector. I'd hate to tear everything apart only to find it's not easily removed. I'm hoping someone else took that leap to install LED strips or blackout the lens and could tell me what they found...
