  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Hyundai Genesis Panoramic Sunroof Guaranty

Should be covered under the 5/60 warranty.
Thanks. Does the manufacturer's 5/60 warranty only apply to me as original owner or would it apply to someone who I sell my vehicle to?

New owner too, but the 10/100 becomes 5/60.

My 2015 is in the shop today getting torn apart so they can send pix of the "damaged parts" that are causing my roof to no close/open properly. They were told by Hyundai to send in pix to determine if issues will be covered by this new extended warranty.

Well they failed me again. :(

They called and said they sent pictures of pano roof issues and were told they need even MORE in-depth pictures. They said they want me to pay $450 to do the teardown. All this after the rep I've been working with said they would "never charge for any warranty issues, including the pictures or teardowns"

So I told them a hearty NO to the teardown and fee and to send the car back to me.

Idiots!

That sounds pretty bad, sorry man.

What chaps my ass is it's 100% crystal clear that the roof is jammed up due to mechanical/hardware failure. They have record of me coming in 2+ years ago to try to get it fixed and back them they kept saying the lube is all it takes to fix. So they know this has been ongoing before my warranty expired.

Hate to say it, but at some point it makes sense to get legal advice on how to proceed.

Who wants a "luxury car" with a rattling/dysfunctional sunroof? I chose to avoid it, although I think a pano sunroof is an AWESOME feature.

Saved myself some money and frustration.

Not sure who this may help at this point. After being brought in well over ten times; it's been figured out. I was told they were going to call in a "sunroof expert." Clearly an aftermarket installer. They had previously took the whole thing apart, to no avail. This guy found the problem within 2 hrs of dropping it off. Turns out that from the factory, they installed it wrong. There's a tube that runs down the inside of the sunroof that the cable is supposed to run through. It doesn't. It runs outside. Putting undo stress and tension on the cable. Thereby causing the motor to strain and trip the object sensor and opening the sunroof. Cable just had to run through the tube. Good luck.
