  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello from Greenwood SC. Just got my 15 Ginny (Tech package) around Christmas and I'm really enjoying it. Had an 08 Azerra and loved it so I pulled the trigger on the Ginny and a 16 Tuscon.

Loves... the drive, the technology (though I'm dying for AA), the comfort, Cruise control, styling, panorama moonroof

Likes... Color (light gray/ black interior... it was on the lot and I got a killer deal), fuel economy

Dislikes... Wing Badge (everyone thinks it's a POS Chrystler), Voice control (worthless), Bluelink (worthless), Plastic interior faux-wood, tires

I ride motorcycles and I know that the most cringe-worthy times on a forum are when some Noob decides to restart an oil or tire thread. I promise that I've gone through the treads but I haven't found anything really addressing my question so at risk of getting flamed I'm going to ask a TIRE QUESTION (I can hear the sighs).

I'm familiar with the recall for the Hankook tire so I'm looking at upgrading somewhat... thinking about going to 255/35's on the front and 285/35's on the rear. Looking for a Summer tire since we don't get any snow. I contacted Hankook and they told me that I could get the new tires from a local dealer (who happens to be a friend that can get me a good deal on tires) Are those good sizes? Will they fit? What brands do people like?Thoughts and/or suggestions (and if you want to flame me that's OK too... I'm a big boy with plenty of scar tissue. lol)?

Most people want to wing badge instead of the Hyundai logo. You are making some Hyundai exec very happy.

It is unclear if the optional Hankook tire replacement plan through Hyundai forces the choices offered by Hyundai - it appears so. Although there was a recent Hankook recall that may change the rules, that may be for non-OEM buyers, not OE tires supplied by Hyundai. Otherwise you are stuck with the Michelins if you don't want to pay yourself.

Rethinking this already... 285's will add about 1.5" and that looks like it will exceed the Wheel Well. Backing it down to 265/35's.......... will those fit?

I was going to say... I run 255/35 and 285/30 on 20' wheels and I am lowered.

I agree on the badges - that's why mine is totally shaved on the front and rear.

ksoze... thanks for the reply. I called Hankook customer service and they indicated that I could go to my local tire shop. They didn't sound like they really knew what they were talking about since it took the girl 30 minutes to even confirm that my tires were in the recall. But she told me that I could go to the local shop for replacements.

As I mentioned my friend owns the shop so he could help me with any paper work that needs to be done (wink wink) so that shouldn't be a problem.

Best guess, is that is the stock answer for non-OE owners. For Hyundai OE owners like us, I wonder if they will catch the serial number as an OE tire and expect Hyundai to handle with the Michelin and Conti's. Someone should give it a try....

And they don't stick out of the well??? So will 285's work on standard suspension or is that too much?

not sure on standard suspension. here are pics of my set up. the offsets on my wheels are different than stock so the tire selection doesn't correlate exactly with a stock set up.

Huddleston... very nice mods you've done there my friend. Love the blacked out wheels. How's the ride on the 30% profile? Have you noticed any increase in roughness?

The car was lowered while the new wheels and tires were put on. The ride is very similar to stock and just slightly firmer but I'm sure that's mostly due to the suspension mods.
