  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Map v13.0 update available

Click on "bill to Genesis Motor Corp" so they are charged, not you.
Nice.. Just placed an order and chose 2 day shipping. $35 charged to GMA. 👍👍

"100 million time better.." Somehow I doubt that. You're in a moving vehicle, road noise, car movement, the need to keep mind focused on the road, all things that would make in impossible to tell the difference between USB and BT. Heck, I bet you couldn't even tell Spotify vs. USB or BT.

It's funny how the mind can play tricks on folks.

Also, in the new 13.5 updated found that the USB UI and the Bluetooth UI are much different from the v13.

MUCH BETTER LOOKING! Plus, there are quick access links to the album and the artist of the song playing. Quick links to QLS - I guess they wanted to promote this

I hope they continue with this new look for the rest of the components.

I also found that the car will now coast a ton more. Maybe the old system had an issue in telling the trans to coast but in ECO I coast almost every time I lift my foot off now. I don't think I ever got a COASTING message on the old firmware.

Lastly, as already mentioned, you get lane guidance even when not under navigation.

Agreed the UI is exceptionally better than previous. So glad they did that. Haven't felt like I was coasting more, rather the opposite, but I felt like I was coasting less before I updated. Maybe the system has "learned" and assumes I don't want to coast. I wonder if this is something that can be reset. It used to coast quite a bit and instantly for me

...difference between USB and BT. Heck, I bet you couldn't even tell Spotify vs. USB or BT....

I absolutely can. Unlike Apple products, Androids do not use high bandwidth Bluetooth codecs by default. Even though I have a higher than SBC on I can easily tell the bluetooth is compressed compared to a Lossless FLAC.

So I ordered a new SD card with the update to v13.5. That part went smooth as glass. The rest, not so much. So my order made it to the Atlanta processing station this past Monday. According to Fed Ex the shipping label was damaged so they replaced it. Apparently with the wrong one. Deliveries were suspended in my area for a couple of days because of Hurricane Dorian but on Thursday I got an email from a stranger saying my SD card had been delivered to them by mistake. They said they would get with Fed Ex and get the card delivered to me. So now the Fed Ex tracker has shown that my delivery has been in route to Savannah. For the last 3 days...... Kinda letting this play out because the update is not really a need right now. But seems like stuff is always an adventure. :)

New SD card and updated today. Next update I plan to photo my most used screens to be sure of the changes. My memory of appearance and operation is better when I do not have to use my memory. 28 minutes total.

I have installed my 13.5 update. The cover of the manual states that it is v13.5, but Step 12 in the manual indicates that the version is 12.47.44.XXX, and that is the version that the car now shows. Has anyone else noticed this?

I didn't check which version I had previously, but Genesis indicated that I needed the update. A quick review of the new update, and I don't see any difference. Fewer steps were required than are indicated in the manual (Steps 4 and 5 were not required).

Yes, Strange numbering system but that is correct. The new 12.44 was 12.41 on my last version. You can verify that on the mapnsoft web site.

Very quick reply to my question from MapnSoft:

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry, we are happy to assist you. Unfortunately the vehicle does not display map versions so conveniently that they show as 13.5. We translate our map version numbers that display on the head unit, into basic versions for map updates as it is much easier to say and list. Your map version that you have received is V13.5 and as long as you are not having any errors display on your screen afterwards, it would appear that you have successfully updated the navigation. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Oliver

Tested out 13.5 again this weekend to see how much it knew. We asked it to take us to Hobby Lobby. After a couple of times of repeating the stores name it finally pulled up a list of the locations. Problem is the one closest to us closed down 3 years ago but it was listed on the 13.5 map as the "#1" closest address to chose from. Oops.

You used the voice search through the Nav or Google?

I've been trying out the Hyundai map/voice system. Been hit and miss.

I trust Google maps a lot more due to constant updates it receives and real time traffic. For example the road near our house is being widened and speed limit has been 25mph for a few month. Of course Google and Waze recognized the change and shows the slower traffic during rush hour so you can avoid it when we need to.

How does the birds eye view look and the 3D building view?
