In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hey team.

Was curious if anyone has any advice on my issue or if they have run into this before.

About 3 months ago a new annoyance popped up where what feels/sounds like something on my drivers side front end is rubbing and/or vibrating when I'm at speeds between 20 and 50 mph.

I took it to my local Hyundai dealership a few weeks back and they drove it, heard the noise, threw it up on the lift and said the only thing they noticed is that my old tires (4/32 tread life) were slightly bulgy on the drivers side and was likely the issue.

The tech even showed me a slow motion video of the tire spinning and I kind of saw what he mentioned. Kind of.

Since my tires were in fact old, I went to my tire shop and had them throw on some Yokohama YK740GTX in 255/45/R19. I love them. The width is great, they have awesome traction, they look nice, and they were $1k out the door with the tire certs.

Alas, this didn't fix the issue.

I'm headed back to the dealership on Friday to demand more research be done on my issue and use the expensive extended warranty I purchased to remedy it.

Wondering if anyone has any advice on what I could mention to assist the techs in their investigation?

Any input is appreciated, pictures of tires below!

#1 advice. Don't be *that* guy. You said it felt/sounded like something vibrating/rubbing. You never really said it *was* doing either, just felt sounded like. So, was it in fact vibrating? or was it in fact rubbing?
Try not to be too hard on the techs, first off, they're there to help. Give them that at least at first until proven otherwise.

my 2 cents.

Hey Easy.

For sure, and the tech I've been working with has been great, but like most dealerships I've worked with, they want to do the least amount of work first and move on from there, but that could require me to come in several more times, taking time off work, etc...

The issue has been acknowledged, but it's really hard to describe what it is. I THINK I can feel this vibration, or roughness, or whatever it is when I drive between those speed ranges, but it is very audible and I can replicate it 100% of the time.

Now that we clearly know it isn't a tire issue, I'm guessing it has something to do with the suspension, but since I know nothing about the suspension, I am hoping someone else might have had a similar issue and found it to be a bushing/shock/control arm or something.

But yeah, the tech I've been with there has been great and I know he's just following his standard operation procedure but I've also found that if you can aim your technician a bit, sometimes it can narrow their focus, hence my request here.

Thanks again for the response!

A good tech always want's to learn from his or her mistake or misdiagnosis. Take it back and have them find out where the noise is coming from. How many miles on your Geni-sass? Maybe it's a failing wheel bearing/hub assy.

Hey Ozzy.

Got about 74k on it now, issue arose around 72k.

I could definitely see it being something in the hub, although it's weird it only makes the noise during that small speed range.

I'm hoping they can home in on that and find out what it might be.

Will definitely have some more info tomorrow after I bring it in and have them look at it.

I bought my 2013 Genesis in 2017. It was a CPO with only 36k. It now has 88K and been a great car with no issues except mine to has slight noise coming from the left front wheel area. The slower the speed the more noticeable it is. The sound isn't that bad just enough to be annoying. Getting new tires shortly after getting the car, tire rotations, and alignments have helped but the sound has never disappeared completely. Im starting to think its just the characteristics of the Genesis. Haha. I do plan on taking it into the dealer and let them check the hub assembly.

Hey dhall57.

Let me know how that goes.

My tech said he couldn't replicate the issue so I'm headed back this Saturday and requested to ride with the tech.

I even had a friend ask me "what's that noise" just today without them even knowing I had an issue so it was evident they could hear my concern as well.

Wondering if you and I have the same issue.

Mine showed up randomly one day and never left and my new tires just made it all the more obvious unfortunately.

I'll let you know if they figure out my issue.

I had a similar issue on my 2012 3.8, but it's on the passenger side. High pitch plastic rubbering noise. Replicated the noise when driving with tech but he said he can't hear anything.

Hey everyone.

So, after my last visit to the shop they said they could not recreate the noise but offered to allow me to drive with a tech in the car.

I obliged and went to the dealership this morning and rode with a tech that has an Rspec himself.

Before we even leave he mentioned that he had to replace both of his front wheel bearings at 50k miles. I'm at 75k miles.

After just a few minutes in the car, he hears the noise and tells me it's definitely the front right wheel bearing.

We get back to the shop, they contact my extended warranty company and they cover 100% parts and labor (after my $100 deductible) and said they would throw in an alignment after the install.

Total shop cost was $885, but only $100 to me.

Headed back next Saturday for the repair which should take less than 3 hours.

Will update following that event.

When you go back in can you ask them for the part number for the bearings

Hey everyone.

I picked up my car today from the dealership and the issue has been corrected.

They replaced the front right wheel hub assembly, as Ozzy said, and did a 4-wheel alignment after as well.

Car runs great and is back to super quiet.

Total cost was $1,151, my portion was the $100 deductible which is cool with me.

The part number for the replacement wheel hub assembly was 51750-3M050.
