  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Although I posted about a week ago about our search for a 2015-2016 Genesis, this is my first official post as a Genesis owner. We were able to find a '16 Ultimate with only 16K miles at CarMax. The car is Pamplona Red (Hyundai now calls it Burgundy) with a beige interior. The car is in excellent condition. I've replaced the cabin and engine air filters, plugged the license plate holes in the grill (the car was transferred from VA, which requires a front plate), and am doing some simple color correction/touch up on the paint. So far, we absolutely love this car. The power, quiet, heads up display, and all the other technology make it a joy to drive.
I wish it had Apple CarPlay, but we'll survive without it.

This car is a replacement for my wife's 2011 Taurus Limited, and the Genesis makes clear what an ungainly slug that car was (we can't complain too much, the Taurus treated us well; it just isn't in the same class as the G). Our other car - my car - is a 2000 Porsche Boxster S w/ 34K miles, but I find myself frequently looking for excuses to drive the Genesis. What a great car!

Congrats!

Did you get the Carmax warranty?

We didn’t. There are still 2-1/2 years on the original bumper to bumper warranty, and ~6 months on the radio/head unit. Plus the powertrain warranty.

FYI. Since the car isn't CPO from a Hyundai dealer, you only get the balance of the 5 yr/60k mile warranty. Second owner doesn't get the full 10yr/100k powertrain warranty.

OK, thanks for clarifying.

Yeh yer gonna love it! Have just under 12K on our 16’ G Ultimate and only thing we had to do are oil changes.service writer looked at the odometer and just shook his head lol.

If you don't mind can you share the price? I am in the market for a car as well.

Do a CarMax search. Low mileage 2016 3.8 Ultimates are selling for $28 to $29K.

2015 3.8 sedans with the Tech Pkg are selling on CarMax for $25 to $26K. Also do a search for Hyundai CPO vehicles.

I’d suggest you lift your car and checkout the underbody. I also bought my car from CarMax a ‘16 3.8 ultimate for 29.9k in April. I did more research on CarMax than the actual car. Found some shady business practices so I ordered my own car history report from Carfax - nothing came up. Well, both their report and mine was wrong. Went to do my first oil change and found a moderate amount of scraping on a metal part of the frame near the driver’s side wheel; I’m assuming it is a motor mount, and a hole in the wheel well fender liner that they used two plastic CarMax license plates painted black to cover. Is it a shitty move, absolutely, especially since the replacement part is only $68. Overall it’s in great shape and mechanically sound.

Not trying to scare you, I love my car, just saying look it over well for a second time. Perhaps, I could have gotten them to pay for the wheel liner if I caught it within the first month being that they knew about it and covered it up.

Wow. That sucks. I’ve had the car to a Hyundai dealer who checked it out thoroughly and did an oil/filter change. The car appears to be in fantastic condition.
