  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all I was an active member from 2009 to 2011 or so when the Genesis Coupe first came out, had a 2.0 base 6spd and then sold it. Well I'm soon to be back in a Genesis...just did a deal on a 2016 3.8 AWD Ultimate (Black with Ivory interior) I pick it up Friday from Paramus Hyundai! Question is: Is there any software updates or things I should have them check or update before I take it? it has 34,000 miles so still has all warrantees!
Thanks in advance!

Welcome. I grew up in Teaneck. Later, after Army service, I lived in New Milford during the almost 30 years that I commuted to work in NYC. What’s the best ice cream in that area, you ask? VanDyk’s in Ridgewood, of course.

Thanks!
I live and am from Rhode Island, but my wife is from Saddlebrook! I found this car in Paramus and its worth the drive for it!

There has been a few updates along the way and they come with the navigation update. You can check on the touchscreen by going to the system information. Navigation should be 13.41.xxxxx or so. Go to www,mapnsoft.com/genesis and have your VIN ready.

Ok thanks for the info!

You mention that your car still has all the warranties, but you should at least consider finding an extended warranty somewhere. Your 5/50,000 warranty will expire pretty soon and you are not eligible for the 10/100,000 powertrain warranty, unless you are getting a CPO warranty, which I doubt you are getting.

It will cost only about $34 total to get a Nav update through MapNSoft, but you could ask the dealer to throw that a few other things into your deal like mats, cargo net and splash guards.

Most importantly, be sure to get the Van Dyke’s ice cream while you are in Bergen County, NJ. Ridgewood, NJ is one of the most beautiful towns in the USA.

Thats almost hard to believe for a NJ town. But I really is an Awesome town.

Black with the Ivory interior is a great combo. Really low miles on that car too. Congrats, sounds like a good deal!

It’s hard to beat Bergen County, NJ. Growing up in Teaneck my better known neighbors were Yankees like Jim Bouton and Elston Howard, as well as Pat Boone and Ben E. King the singers. Oh yes, Dave Winfield and the Isley Brothers were there later too. One of my High School classmates was a Doobie Brother, the singer Phoebe Snow was a few years younger than I was. Another one of my high school classmates later became Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I forgive Peter Pace for being a Marine.

North Eastern Jersey is almost like a different state, compared to South Jersey where I grew up..🙂

South Jersey has plenty of highlights too, plus it still shows the world why NJ is called The Garden State.

Thanks for the feedback...Yes remainder of factory warranty not CPO that I’m aware of...so is the extended warranty “highly recommended” for these cars? Meaning I could be expecting expensive repairs down the road? I am a Hyundai guy but have had nothing that has this level of gadgets installed...the awd ultimate package is amazingly full of potential failures!
And the MapNsoft is something I can do later at home or they do at dealer?
Also was mostly wondering if there are updates to the radio system/apps as to be more up to date with newer phones and applications.
I will look out for some of that ice cream as wel
Thanks!

Yes it looks nice but I really wanted black and had a deposit on a black on black awd but only had signature package. And a bit more miles for only $600 less...and it was a only 2015! This one was a great deal for a 2016 awd ultimate with 34k...my only hesitation was the light interior! Hope it holds up!

You can update the Nav at home for about $34.

Is an extended warranty important to me. YES! In just a few months you are going to be without any warranty coverage. It’s your call.

In the little time remaining today, try to get some warranty quotes. The Paramus dealer’s finance office will be laying in wait for you tomorrow, so best have some idea of costs from other places.
