If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just got my tires done from the recall. I thought they were giving out Continentals. I received Michelin Primacy MXM4 245/45 R18. Wondering how these will work out. No search on mobile... :(

They ride fine but I don't feel inspired around twisty stuff. With 6k miles they are starting to make more noise and ride more stiffly--like most tires. Looking at what they cost at Discount Tire, I don't think they are worth the money. I will probably have to replace them at 20k miles. Looking at Barum and Kumho.

That was always what they gave for the V6. The V8 model is given Contis.

You must be brutal on tires. I don't think your comments are typical of the Michelin Primacy MXM4.

On thing about I have discovered about the Genesis, is that you must do regular tire rotations. I never did them on previous cars, but since I started doing rotations (free at Costco) after my last tire purchase, I have been extremely pleased with my Michelin Primacy MXV4's (which are a little different than the MXM4).

have had the mxm4s on my genny for about 8k miles now and no issues other than they also flat spot (like the hankooks) if the car sits for a number of hours...even when it's warm out! to my ear they are quieter than the hankooks, but don't ride quite as well. individual perceptions may differ! :D

Yeah, I did a search when I got home and found out. Thanks for the details. Not noticing much of a change yet, other than the PSI is different from my old Hankooks. Those Hankooks got a good 19k miles before I changed them out. Pretty happy with that. I was having to top off the air in the back right about once every week.

What do you mean the PSI is different? You are supposed to use the PSI recommended on the sticker in the driver's door jam (or Owner's Manual), not the maximum allowed pressure on the tire.

If you want to go a couple of PSI over the recommended pressure, that is OK, but nowhere near maximum tire pressure as printed on the tire.

The PSI should be measured when the internal tire temperature is about 70 F, since all gases gain pressure in an enclosed space when the temperature rises. That means the car must not be driven for about 4 hours to figure out the correct PSI (or make adjustments if it has been driven). Tires heat up significantly when driven due to the constant flexing of the belts as the tire turns.

I ran the Hankooks at about 35. The new tires were set to 40 (max 44) by the Stealership.

the recommended cold tire psi is 33 front and rear for both the hankooks and michelins.

Sometimes it is a stealership, but other times it is just an idiotship. Run the Michelins at 35 PSI also (a little over the recommended pressure is fine).

When we took our 2016 for a test ride my wife was in the back seat. See told me it rode like a truck. We bought the car and I noticed the Michelin's pressure was 44 lbs in all the tires. I let the extra air out and it sits at 33 lbs cold. It rises to 37 lbs when warm. Michelin warrantee's the tires to 70,000? Costco told me last month that they would rotate for me because I always buy from them and they are Michelin's. No tire complaints yet!

The last 4 Toyota's I purchased had 40 to 50 lbs when I took delivery. Must be the Asian air?:D

For cars shipped from Asia on boats (like the Genesis), I know they overinflate the tires on purpose so as to be sure that they don't run low on air during the long trip from Asia to the port of entry, and then later to dealer.

I don't know if that is also true of cars assembled in the US, but could be.

The dealer prep on new cars is pitiful. Also, if a tire installer (i.e., Hyundai dealer) over-inflates a tire before doing a spin-balance, that is not good.

The good thing about Costco is that they use pure nitrogen, which maintains tire pressure a lot longer than air.

The TPMS indicator would be going off if I had that much pressure in mine. Last time at Costco, he put 36 lbs in, and the following day I had the indicator going off. Bled a little pressure off each to about 35, and then it was fine.

My dealer put Nitrogen on mine at no cost. I always have them around 35-36 PSI.

I liked my Hankooks through 22k and find no discernible difference with the MXM4s at 33psi.....except the Michelins are better in the rain.

That’s what I’ve been saying for a while now and decidedly better in snow. Just in case that applies to your location.

Yes, I am, but I am really nice to brake linings. :) I was hoping that rotation would not be as big a deal with RWD as it is with FWD. Now it sounds like it is. How many miles have you racked up on your car?

At Tire Rack, the MXV4 are much preferred over the MXM4. One reviewer sounded like me--his were completely gone at 21k miles.

I have about 35K on my Michelin Primacy MXV4's. Looks like they have more than one half tread left and tread wear is very even.

But you are correct that the Primacy MXV4 and Primacy MXM4 are different tires.

I'm new, just joined up mainly to see how responsive Hyundai dealers have bee in replacing stock tires. I have a 5.0 Ibiza Blue/ Ivory Ultimate (purchased in June 2014)and have been trying to get a replacement set from my dealer since early May 2016. Have been following up with Hyundai USA HQs. still no ETA yet. Like to hear from 5.0 owners on how long it took to get their new set of Contis.. IBiz5Guy

The dealership left mine between 43 and 44 PSI when I picked up my car. I didn't notice until I got on the highway and found lane changes scary at 70MPH, with the TPMS reading 48 PSI.

My car was a demonstrator and I think its laughable that no-one noticed the handling was that bad for so long.
