  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Signed up here on 4/10/17 and been searching for a Genesis ever since. With the help and info on this forum and it's members I brought home what I think is the right car for me and my wife. Well mostly my wife because it will be her daily driver, hopefully she will let me get behind the wheel every now and than LOL. Had to drive nearly 2 hours to get it but worth it though I think. It was a personal lease vehicle and a CPO car with 36260 miles and is equip with the tech pkg. Four years old but car looks nearly brand new inside and out. Just to nice to let this one pass me by. Here is a pic.

You made the perfect choice. Obviously you took note that the 3.8 is PLENTY powerful. Oh, yeah, it's the same color as mine.

I test drove a '16 Equus last week on sale with just 3,000 miles. Great car, but the 5.0 V8 was no big deal improvement over my 3.8.

Thanks Ernie. I like the color but my wife loves it. And you know the old saying: If mama's happy, well you know the rest of it Haha. I've played around with it a little bit and you right that V6 333 HP is no slough!!

CONGRATS!!! This is a very nice car and you will keep it until the wheels fall off!

Congrats and nice choice, except for the color same as mine (black). I'm sure you'll love the car and have many miles of fun and enjoyment with it.
If you didn't get all the manuals with the car or need a service manual, hit me up for electronic copies.
Looking forward to new questions and observations in future.

Had the Genesis almost a week now and my wife and I really like it. I ran across the original owners email address in some paper work in the glove box. So I sent him a message saying I was the new owner of the car. I was lucky and got a email reply back from him, very nice guy by the way. He had leased the car for 3 years. He said it had been a great car for him and most of the 36000 miles were mainly hwy miles and he had it serviced on a regular basic. The only issue he said he ever had with it in the 3 years he had it was a issue with the radio not working at one time. So with that being said it gives me some piece of mind that I feel like I've got a good car that has been taken care of and I hope will give me years of good service.

A comforting little bit of reassurance, nice that the previous owner responded to you with a trouble free history.

Yes, peace of mind is gud.

Took my car back to the dealer Saturday morning to get some maintenance services done that had not been completed prior to me buying it. They gave us a 2017 G80 to drive for the day. Don't get me wrong G80 owners very nice car, but I would still take my 2013 1st G Genny;)

Been reading a lot here on this forum from other owners about road and tire noise that they have or had with their Genesis and I'm having some of the same issues with mine. Car was lined up at my selling dealer, tires road forced balanced and rotated. Car goes down the road great with no vibration coming through steering wheel, etc. Car is very quite and solid going down the hwy except for that annoying noise from what sounds like from left front like other members have complained about. Not even that loud but enough to let you know its there. My Genesis is in the 36500 mile range and I think the Mich Energy Savers are the original tires and still look good with a lot of tread left. I hate to throw away what looks light a good set of tires but Im not going to put up with that irritating noise on such a nice car. By what I've read here the Mich ES are more likely the problem not the car and that Hyundai used these from the factory for gas mileage purposes only not because they were the best tires. Seemed unlikely with such low miles but thought maybe car could even have a bad wheel bearing so I raised the front and both wheels had no movement or play in them and wheels spun freely with no noise. I know their are at least 3 or 4 different tires other members here have had a good luck with so I guess the choice is mine.

I have the original Energy Saver A/S Michelins on mine and have had no real issues. Keep in mind these have a fairly hard rubber for fuel efficiency and long wearing but as they get older they get harder. The date code on mine is 2012 so they are now 5 years old and will be nothing like new ones. Add to the fact that these are a large and a fairly heavy tire at 25 lbs may add up to some of the noises you refer to.
I will probably keep mine on for the rest of the summer and replace this fall.

My wife and I took the Genesis on a 400 mile road trip to the mountains yesterday. The car ran great and handled the curvy mountain roads really well. My son and his girl friend went along. Both of them really like this car. My son is 6'2 and is more than comfortable in the back seat and has plenty of head room. They love the heated back seats also. He has a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT and he says he wishes it was as comfortable as the Genesis.

I'm glad you like it, I enjoy my 2012 3.8. I also tried the V8 and the difference just wasn't noticeable enough, plus the engine is actually quieter and doesn't sound as nice in my opinion.

I did a lot of extra soundproofing on mine, but the first thing I did was to get rid of the energy saver garbage. It was an easy choice because I put them on my previous car which had new tires before selling it. The original Genesis tires would constantly squeal when I would turn or take off and it's not like I was racing, this was during normal driving. Their grip stunk and the noise level after the swap was noticeable.

However, they were not as loud as my studded winter tires (Nokian Hakka 9), so it's nothing crazy like that but you'll notice it. When I put my summer tires back on this month, it was amazing, I forgot how super quiet this car was.

As stated in a earlier post the PO said the only problem he had ever had with the car was issues with the radio not working. Well found out from the service mgr at the selling dealer that when they got the car that indeed the radio was dead. He said they could never get the original unit working properly so they had to replace it with a new one. So my 2013 has a new radio, no complaints from me!

Congratulations and welcome to you and the Wife.

My 2013 Genesis was a personal lease car that was turned in at a Daytona Beach, FL Hyundai dealership. The dealer offered the leaser a newer G80 at the same lease payment so he took them up on it and left the car that I now own there. It had less than 36K on the clock at the time and all that was wrong with it was the radio was not working. A car this nice with low miles like this I would think the dealer couldn't get it on their lot fast enough. But the Carfax showed it went to auction and some how it ended up in Hickory, NC where I ran across it and being so nice I had to bring it home. I'm glad that this happened because my wife and I got the Genesis we wanted, but just curious why this dealer would do this. Had to be to their advantage to handle it this way one way or another.
