  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Fellow Hyundai-Enthusiast,

Just drove out a brand new (yet 2013) Genesis 3.8L Night Shadow Brown w/ Cashmere Interior. Long day at dealership as they tried to sell me extended warranty and maintenance packages - turned all of it down. The manager said he'll call me tomorrow to see if I changed my mind on any of those.

I would request experienced members from this forum to advise if its worth getting into the dealer's/hyundai's extended warranty ??

Thank you , in advance.

If you have the Technology Package, most members of this forum would recommend that you get the Hyundai Platinum Extended 10 year - 100K mile warranty, to cover the audio/video/electronics beyond the 36K miles - 36 months included for a new car purchase. Do not buy any extended warranty that is not official Hyundai Extended Warranty (although may be underwritten by another company).

You can purchase the extended warranty from any Hyundai dealer. Dealer cost for the Platinum Warranty is $1050 on the 2013. You should not pay more than $1400. If you search this forum you can find some dealers who will sell the extended factory warranty at that price (or less) on the phone (which is perfectly fine, since the warranty has to be honored by all Hyundai dealers).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If you plan to keep the car more than 3/36, get the Hyundai Platinum warranty.

Not sure about Texas, but in Florida automotive extended warranties are "insurance" per FL law and thus all dealers by law must sell at the same price in Florida. IIRC, Hyundai has its own Florida-only company for this reason (so the 25% reserve requirement is local and national bookkeeping is not subject to public scrutiny by FL regulators).

Congrats on a great car and welcome to the forum! I did the same thing as you about a month ago.

As both Mark and Gunkk mention above, it depends on your situation about the extended warranty. But the only one you should buy is the Hyundai Platinum 10/100.

I bought my extended warranty through a different dealership than where I bought the car - my dealer wouldn't negotiate on the price below $1900. I ended up getting the Platinum for $1199. The finance guy is willing to sell warranties all day long at that price (easy $150 in his pocket). While he's about 30 minutes from me, everything was done over the phone. PM me if you want the details.
