  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Folks,

New owner, and Couldn't be happier, I have Always Owned Performance Cars (Mustangs, Grand Nationals, etc.) but Always Really wanted a Luxury car with some performace, ever since I was a kid, and drove my fathers '78 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.
Anyhow, a few questions, on the Power Trunk, according to the Owners manual, you can lower it using the Key Fob, but press as I might it Never Closes, only by the trunk button..what gives??
Being a Car guy, I looked around and saw that there is NOTHING available to Increase Performance, ie, a Tuner, etc. I realize that the 5.0 is pretty much Maxed out from the factory, but a few more ponies would be nice...
And is there any way to turn OFF the Seat belt chime??

Welcome to the Equus family. From the year and mileage, I suspect you bought the Equus from the Sandy Utah dealer. I had watched that car for over a year and knew it was a wonderful buy of a great car. Glad you got it. I bought the same exact car in June, 2014. I had a 2009 Genesis and the Equus had 11k, was 1 year old, and drove like a dream. It now has 65k and the only trouble was an AC compressor replaced under warranty. You really have to be resourceful because even though it is a absolutely wonderful car, it has b een a very poor seller, and most dual Huyndai/Equus dealers feel they made a mistake ever taking the Equus line on. You will find few places to do warranty work, most Hyundai only Dealers won't touch the car, and even though I live in central California, I have to take the car either to LA (200 miles) or the Bay area, about the same distance. I keep cars for 200,000 miles/15 years, and resale value means very little. I want a very nice reliable car, and only have to please myself. Hope you feel the same, because if you intend to sell in the next two years or so, you will gasp when you find out just how little value it has. If you have an iPad download the Equus App containing the manuals, etc. Very helpful. Your key fob shows the trunk button, with the trunk open. That's what you get, open only. However, the trunk button located on the dash about where your left knee is, will both open and close the trunk. If you use the lock position in closing the trunk lid while at the trunk, you have to give it two quick pushes to both close and lock. Their are a lot of things about this car that operate in a "non intutiave" way. And a lot of dealers and their service departments are of little help. Here is a big tip. You Tube has a lot of videos about how your genesis operates and shows how to work and replace meany items - a great source. The car hasn't changed much since it caame out, so if a video says it's for a 2012 0r 2011, take a look, it may answer your question. I think my email is available on this site, if not post a request and I will respond. Enjoy!

Bob, Thanks, yes one of the Reasons I Bought an Equus, was because of the Tremendous Deals out there. And I Actually bought my Equus from a dealer here in PA that had 2 2013's that belonged to the Owner of a Large Chain of dealers, the Piazza Group. I paid $39,500 for it, and feel that I could have gone even Lower, as these 2 Equus's (Both White Ultimates) have been on the Lot since
September of 2015!!

Anyhow, Thanks for the info, and One other question, as the Second Owner don't I still get FREE Oil changes and maintainance??

Thanks Bob!

As second owner, you are not eligible for a free oil change, but if you happen to be at a dealership other than the one you bought the car from, and need an oil change, don't mention that you are the second owner, request the oil change and when presented with the estimate sheet by the service writer, see if he has indicated a cost for the oil change. If not, have it done, and if he has indicated a charge, inquire that you thought these were free. You decide from there.

Welcome aboard! Thank you for signing up. Grand National, 1978 (HUGE) Fleetwood Brougham... Great cars to be in. Good luck with your Equus! It's also a very impressive car...

Just to Update, my Dealer here in the Reading PA area was Phenomenal!! They Certainly Honored the Free 5 yr Maintainance, just got my first Free Oil Change, and they showed me that Everything is Included, Brakes, Pads, Rotors, Etc.! Amazing..!
