Just picked up my Genesis yesterday. Any advice for a new owner welcome especially on buying or not of extended warranty for 10 years, 100k miles and at what price.

Save your money- you have a 60K-5 year warranty to find any bugs out. If you do want a Hyundai extended warranty- pay as close to $1000 as you can!

Only caveat to ignoring the extended warranty, is if you have the Tech Package. There have been some problems with the audio system, and the dealers almost always have to replace the entire head unit about a $3K cost if out of warranty. The warranty on audio electronics is only 3 years.

if you're going to keep the car long enough to use the warranty it's a great buy. my brother used that 100k extended warranty up until that mark lol he went through struts, mounts intake gaskets all kinds of good stuff. now he's been paying out of pocket and he hates it (obviously). btw his is a loaded '06, V6 sonata..

How many miles on the Sonata? I have an 06 Loaded Sonata with 80,000 miles and never had a problem, and runs like new, including the suspension. I've owned the car since new.

he beats the crap out of it. it has more than 130k on it by now but has gone through a bunch of stuff, mainly due to his abuse of that poor car. i can't believe it is holding up this long. now the timing chain tensioner is making a god awful noise on cold startup..repair cost $1100. his commute is about 85 miles a day roundtrip on country roads 55mph limit or so.

Don't forget too that you only get ONE year of "adjustments," so find and fix all those rattles, squeaks, fit and finish problems, etc., ASAP. Given the cost of audio/Nav repairs, I'm rethinking getting an extended warranty. I did not at purchase 10 days ago.
