  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Owner - First Post

Was anxious to see my self. It was the lowest I've ever gassed up my G70 for $2.79 / 93 octane that may not seem low for some of you but before that the lowest was $3.08 remember this NY.
Its hard to find 93 octane out here in SD but we do have non ethanol... Hope you are staying safe out there in New York. Crazy times. Seems like your governor is doing a good job.

Yes we are quite proud of our governor, not one easily pushed around.
Funny it's very hard for me to find non ethanol gas. I wish I had one around.
Stay out of those potholes.

You as well Ernie3647
.I only encounter potholes when I go to Siuox Falls. Most of all the other roads in SD are good. Cuomo does kick butt....👍

It's hard to believe the roads in the northeast are in better shape than Houston's roads. I never been in Houston.. I know first hand that New Jersey roads are horrible. That tells me that Houston's roads are really crap! Bad roads can beat the crap out of your car. Nothing worse than seeing a big a$$ pot hole and not being able to avoid it and you just feel it jar your brain..... Stay safe.
It's the clay soil here in conjunction with loads of rain - makes for an unstable substrate. They fill potholes like crazy here all year round...!

That makes sense. I never been down to Texas. I hear it's a beautiful state. Here in SD the extreme cold heaves the roads. RRtracks especially. They can rise and settle like 6 inches or so. If you not careful you can really hurt your ride.

That's why I try not to live anywhere that I have to shovel my bad weather!

Of course, Houston has it's own pitfalls - You either bake or drown. Still, rural Texas has some great rural driving roads w/ pretty high speed limits and great scenery. Some of the more out of the way ones are are marked @ 70mph. Some toll roads here have 85mph limits. Most of the troopers here allow 10-15 over, unless you're being a complete idiot.

15 over 85 is 100, pretty generous.

On those 85mph Toll Roads, I've heard it's "Over 9, You're Mine"... Still, you have be doing something pretty idiotic to get nailed. Weaving in & out of lanes, speeding in bad weather & etc. Long as you're cruising w/ the rest of the fish, it's generally OK. Some of the smaller towns are pretty blatant speed traps though.

Yeah Kraig..Jersey roads are not great for sure...but I would bet Michigan would be in the top 5 worst in the country. The city and metro areas are the worst. Once out in the rural areas....they are not near as bad...In certain metro areas you feel like you are driving on the moon...a lunar rover would be the appropriate vehicle.. I will not drive anywhere near those areas. In part we have some of the heaviest truck weight load limits per axle in the country. In addition we have freeze/thaw cycles that compound the degradation of the roads..asphalt or concrete. My wife has an SUV(Ford Edge) and it takes these roads OK kinda like a truck...not saying that is bad. It's just not as comfortable or as quiet as my Genesis (16 Ultimate). As you do I just cringe when you come upon a pot hole that you just cannot avoid and it sends your spine up into your brain....To all...stay safe and healthy

How right you are..80k on a 3 axle dump truck is way too much.. Aslo south south Jersey is like driving in a different state. I was 1 mile from philly and the roads around those bridges are $h'/t . And way too many cars on the road. Stay safe out there my friend..🙂
