If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all --

I have been watching this forum since last June and learned a heck of alot from many of the posting from this forum. So when I finally went to buy the car this week, I was well prepared and finally able to enjoy what everyone here has been raving about.

I've been pricing the car since September and test drove a few times and I just couldn't find what I thought was a competitive price for the car in South Florida. At most they would offer $1,000 off list and that was just not hitting my sweet spot. I was shooting for as close to invoice as I can get. Some of the dealers even had the audacity to add a $5,000 premium for basically nothing. So I kept in touch with a couple of dealers I had met and even though they knew I was a buyer, they still wouldn't deal. So I decided to expand my market area to search for the best deal I can get.

I called a dealer on the Treasure Coast and I spoke to a sales guy on the phone and said I was a serious buyer interested in the Genesis and I knew exactly what I wanted. I told him where I was calling from and I would only come see him if he was willing to give me a really good deal. He spoke to his manager and came back and said I would get an exceptional deal if I was serious and I was willing to meet with him. I said I would met him and I expected he would keep his word.

I had my financing ready and knew what I wanted for my trade (Honda Accord EX). I color I wanted was Black with Saddle interior. I wasn't able to get that combo but took Black with Black interior and I am very happy with that selection. I brought with me the the Genesis wheel caps, hood and trunk logos as well as the Steering wheel logo (didn't think replacing the airbag was worth the expense).

I think the salesman was amazed as to how well I was prepared but it made getting the deal done a much smoother process. The dealership itself is nothing fancy. No waiting rooms with Latte service. That's all fine with me since I don't want to be paying extra for overhead. I got basically everything I wanted with no real hassle. The sales guy was a straight shooter and was easy to work with. I can't say what I finally paid for the car but I walked away happy. The icing on the cake was when I gave them the $500 voucher I had from the Miami Auto show. They had to check to see if it was legit since that had not seen one before. So that made the final price even better.

I do highly recommend the dealer, Wallace Hyundai, in Stuart Florida. They even installed the logos as a courtesy.

I'm looking forward to many happy years with the car.

Tom

Looks like you also got a nice tint job.

Tjn007: First of all, congrats on the Genesis. I own a Blk/Saddle with Tech since Aug 2, 2008 and ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE it. It already has 3,650 miles and NOT one single problem. I also have the Wing emblem on the trunk and hubcabs.

Are you happy with the way the steering wheel oval wing looks in person? My cousin (who owns a 2009 Jag XF Supercharge Blck/Saddle, says it looks cheap). I want to get it, but, I am not sure.

Yes I am happy with it. I suppose the replacement of the air bag would have been the best (too expensive) but decided to go with this version since I wanted to do the entire car with the logo swap, I didn't want to let that go. Also consider that the steering wheel logo is so inexpensive if you don't like it you can toss it. I think you will be fine with it. Good luck.

I leased recently from this same dealership and got a very good deal . My sister bought a 04 Sonata there and was very happy with the whole experience .I too was impressed with the fairness of the place and the loyalty that the workers had for the company . I would highly recommend . ps; last week they got in a new shipment of Genesis sedans.

I want to thank Tony the Service Manager at Wallace for installing all the Genesis logos on the car and the trunk speaker cover for no charge. The part for the speaker cover arrived within a week and I just had it installed yesterday. Some dealers have been charging for this service and it made my purchase more pleasant. Here are some additional photos with the speaker cover.

You should be able to get it for free if you have Tech package. Not sure about non-Tech versions. Ask your dealer, and if they push back, ask them to check with the Hyudai regional office.

There's a whole thread on the subject here:

I paid $200 for the part (Part# 85720-3M000-BR). Some people have paid less but the point is Hyundai is willing to reimburse the part cost and installation (if charged). I don't know if it matters or not what car package you bought but it was a no brainer for me. On the link above you'll find the phone number to call.

Thanks! I'll be calling Hyundai Genesis Team tomorrow to see if they will call my dealer and have it taken care of for me. I already asked my dealer and they said that there is no such part!! Let Hyundai tell them. I have been dealing with a really nice guy named Paul from the Genesis Team. I'll speak with him.

Speaking of the parts department at a Hyundai dealer:

I went to a Hyundai dealer today to purchase an oil filter for my Genesis V6 3.8. It was not the dealer where I purchased my car (which is 25 miles from my home), but a dealer relatively close by.

The parts guy looks on his computer and goes to the back and comes up with conventional oil filter (not a cartridge). I tell him that is not the one, it should be a cartridge, but he insists that the filter he gave me is correct. After an "extended conversation" with the parts guy and another dealer guy who comes up to see what the problem is, the parts guy finally looks on the computer again then and comes back with cartridge (hopefully it is the right one).

So it is not surprising that the parts guy at your dealership doesn't even know about the speaker cover.

I don't think alot of Hyundai dealers are familiar with the Genesis parts. The dealer I bought from had not ordered the speaker cover before so they took the part # from me and found the match in the computer. They now know what the part is for and the person told me it's not uncommon for customers to tell them about parts they had no knowledge of. It's forums like this one where I gained most of my knowledge on the car. It gave me a great advantage when I was ready to buy.

Well, I wouldn't expect any parts guy to memorize all the parts for any car. I would expect them to be able to look it up on a computer and get the right part number.

The speaker cover may be a special case, because it did not come with the original Genesis models. But the original Genesis did come with an oil filter. Fortunately, that was not the dealer where I bought my Genesis.

Well, I wanted to switch to Mobil 1 after about 1500 miles so I changed my oil today (3.8 V6) and sure enough the filter given to me by a dealer (not where I purchased my car) was the wrong one (see story quoted above). This is even though I made a big stink about the first filter he tried to sell me and insisted was the correct one (filter with metal casing that was not a cartridge type), and then when I told him it had to be cartridge type he spent about 10 more minutes looking at a computer and told me that 2632-3C100 was the correct one (it was a cartridge) and I bought two of them.

But while changing my oil and filter, the new filter did not fit and I had to replace the old one (I had already drained the oil). After doing some research it appears that the correct filter is Hyundai 26320-3C250 or Kia 26320-3C300 (just in case their is a Kia dealer nearby). The metal base of the oil filter housing has both a Hyundai and Kia logo on it with part number 26300-3C300 printed on it.

BTW, a 27mm 12-point socket works perfectly on the filter housing cap. Picked it up at an auto parts store for about $5.00.
