  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New pictures with a few cool mods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am actually looking to get an air ride set up for my car. I might be selling my coilovers set up if you are looking for a nice mint ARK coilovers.

I like your car. Don't listen to the negativity. To each his own. Where did you get your wheels and wings? (website) I like to be different too.

Let me know if you like them!!!!!

Why don't you list the mods you've installed?

I don't like the exhaust or wheels - I think they look dated like late 90s designs imo. The badge is okay - definitely unique. How much are you rubbing with those rears, or is the camber so extreme you can actually get those rears into the wheel wells? The whole VIP thing makes cars look weak by being slammed and on dinky tires... ruins the ride and handling for looks, ostensibly not why you'd have a "vip" car. As for the exhaust, I prefer a larger single tip that better fills the bumper cut out, but that's just my opinion. I'd also debadge the genesis lettering.

I do like the ride height, tint and lights - what springs are you running?

How much do they drop the car? Also, how stiff are you running them? Did you do anything inside the car yet?

Do you remember the AMG cars from the 80s and 90s with the body kits, deep dish rims, and sometimes widebody versions? These were the creme de la creme uber lux cars of the time - renown Mercedes engineering and power from AMG. Then Japan got into the luxury game, and the Japanese modified thier prestigious cars in the same manner, and they came to be called "vip" cars because the people that own them are typically V.I.P.

It grew up in the 90s and 00s in Japan and now its more of a formula for certain visual aesthetics like lowering the ride height, adding large wheels with large lips and low profile tires, and body kits to make the car stand out.

The OP did a faithful job making his Genesis a Vip car, although I would have gone with a cleaner wheel and a more traditional tire size. The Japanese also have a tradition of putting cheap tires that are way too small for the rims so they can get stiff sidewalls when drifting - another Japanese car culture phenomenon. Somehow that's a vip aesthetic now, along with not just lowering a car, but "slamming" it so it looks like its sitting on the ground.

I'm guessing 1.5" right now. I can lower it much more but my work's parking struture has crazy ramps. Any lower I would not be able to park.

I saw those rims before and thought they would be outstanding on a Genny, you confirmed it. Can you tell me the front wheel and tire size, I'm looking for a change on mine.

OP lives in California (Southern) I assume. It takes a lot to stand out in the CA market and the vibe is very different here in terms of look on the streets. Strong Latino influences, etc. Overall I linke where he wants to go but I would've picked different wheels. But like a friend says, "If you and me were alike...one of us wouldn't be necessary."

PM me if you don't want them out here. lookin good

Accolades to you and your awesome ride, proud indeed you must be! The amazing effort you put forth in your photography does not go unnoticed. I thank you for giving us your offering on this forum.

As far as differences of styling from the post's replies I viewed, we all have our own unique tastes. Like the ole' adage says "You can please some of the people some of the time but cannot please all the people all the time". Let it not take away from your efforts, and your joy to share.

:)

lots of nice pics. I plan on taking many pics once i buy mine.

Aside from the equus badges and the wheels/tires, i find your car to be stunning.

Have you actually read any of the posts to this forum?

There is a spanish saying "Para los gustos, se hicieron los colores" meaning, in simple terms, whatever floats your boat.

:sips on haterade: Now, for my opinion, I wouldn't go as far as saying that this car is "vip" status, at least not like the true VIP status Genesis that are found in Korea. That's just me. I will never understand this concept of stretching out the tires. I cannot see how functional, not to mention safe, this fad truly is. It doesnt look flattering. Lastly, back in the day, when I had my 96 Dodge Avenger, I once replaced the ram logo with a viper logo. At the end of the day, I was only lying to myself hence why people would call me a poser. /endhating

The car looks clean. Shows how much you put into it. Take care of it.

:)

Putting on Equus badges reminds me of seeing the fake AMG or M badges on other cars. Not really getting why someone would want to do that. I have had so many people ask if my car is a bentley with the wings, I would not change them. With the updates to the 2012 I really can't think of anything to do to the car. I keep reading in the mags that the Genesis is too plain, perhaps I am getting old, but the leds, grill, etc. look better to me than the current models from the Germans.

I think your car is beautiful. It displays personal pride regardless of the badge choice. The wheels have a subtle look with geat detail (pics do not do the wheels justice) That is what I love about The Genesis...it is so versatile without loosing it's mystique.

Thanks for sharing your pictures ...keep roll'n!
