  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New Software Update

Last August, about a month after I took ownership of my GV70, I received a notification on the infotainment screen that an update was available to be installed. That was the last time I got such notification. Even in the US, I guess the OTA updates are flaky.

Flaky is one apt word! :)

Sorry, I can't help you with that. Have you contacted Genesis Canada and asked how to accept the OTA Update terms in the web version of Connected Services? It took several weeks for me to be able to finally accept them here in the US. And I honestly won't know if the car will actually update OTA, until the Fall update is released. Plus, tbh, downloading the update to a memory stick and then putting the stick in the car to download the update was pretty easy and quick. So if I never get OTA updates, it's just not a big deal to me.

My 2019 Mercedes E450 received OTA updates. The last maps update I received in the car before trading her in for the GV70, took several weeks for the update to finish downloading to my car. But in a Benz, you can't download an update to a memory stick and do it yourself, so at least Genesis gives us options.
I totally agree with preferring to update with a USB drive rather than OTA. Both my previous 2019 MB E450 and 2021 Volvo XC60 Recharge took FOREVER to complete the updates, more than once failing seemingly midway through the process. Every USB update performed on either my wife's Hyundai Santa Fe models or my GV70 EV have been flawless on the first attempt.

IF the Updates Gods are with me, when the next update comes out, I may let the car update OTA, just to see how it goes and how long it takes. If it takes weeks as my E450 (as yours did as well), I won't fuss with OTA and just use the nice quality SanDisk memory stick I used and do it myself. I'll have the update pretty immediately doing it myself as well.

Confused as to what exactly isn't available in Canada?
- No digital key
- No fingerprint payment options
- No OTA updates
- No 21" wheel option for 2.5T Sport Prestige
- No full digital dash for anything but the 3.5T Sport Plus (top of the line here)
- Different phone app that is much inferior, no battery level status, etc
- Small things like the SoundHound icon on the radio to display track information doesn't work here

I know there are more but those are a few that I've run into so far.

I am in Canada and I cannot use the link to update the "accept OTA update" , does anyone know how to accept the OTA update in Canada?
It isn't an option here - I asked my service department at the dealership...no such thing in Canada.

Is it Genesis (MapN'Soft) or is it the availability of updated road changes? They have to get the information from some agency that keeps track of it. Any one know how it works?
It's Genesis for the most part. Mapnsoft provides basically the same software for all North American models that use their system.

I went out to Genesis Canada website and it appears OTA updates are available for GV60 only, with a note they will be adding more models in the future. As I've said, doing it via memory stick is honestly pretty simple and painless and likely updates your car far faster than an OTA update.

Thank you for your quick reply. I do the USB download and update too. Just hope that the firmware update or ICCU update can be done by OTA instead of bringing the car to the maintenance.

I've called Genesis about this some time ago and I was informed that it isn't something that is available to Canadians. I felt robbed.

Genesis tells me a software update was posted in the last week for me to try. However the website only mentions May which broke my connected services. Anyone know anything about this?

Latest version available for download is June 29 release, no release notes available, so I assume it fixes some issues introduced in May release.

Yes 6/29 like the poster above mentioned and it fixed my connected services.

Yeah, I noticed that too...not sure where this update comes from? I assumed that Canada just didn't get it, because we get overlooked on most things.
Yea here in the US it's still showing May. Took it the dealer and they tried and nothing...a new radio has been ordered but in backorder. As per the dealer this seems to be a problem across the board for the GV70 and G70

Hmmmmm... I am in the US and on the Update Website I see June 28 since at least 2 weeks ago.
GV70.webp

was this posted to the Official Genesis Navigation Update Website website, as mentioned in an earlier post mine still has the May 2023 update listed
I don't see it listed either but there was an update in June 2023 ...my USB recognized it once I downloaded it and placed it in my car. Figured I should download so the incompetent Genesis engineers would not say that connected services doesn't work due to not being updated properly. So I downloaded it and then went to my connected service and it finally let me activate it after being down for more than month. I'm not sure what happened and will not question it. Just happy all my services are back up and running accordingly.
